Council Minutes of 2-7-2017
this for a long time. The owner of the property filed a lawsuit to quiet title. There
is going to be a management conference on February 27 and I can't wait to ask
the court to tell them to clean it up, because we have been dealing with this for far
too long. We have a condemnation order that has not been appealed. We were
getting ready to roll bulldozers when he filed his lawsuit. After filing his lawsuit
he has done nothing. I intend to be quite strenuous in my objection to the
continued condition of the property.
Finance Director Copfer:
• The year end for December 31, 2016 summary and detailed financial statements
reports have been e-mailed to Council.
• The budget before you is the permanent appropriations. We will be discussing in
committee. But the process went very smooth and I'm happy it is done.
Councilman Barker requested personal privilege. Madame President, Colleagues and
Mayor. It is with sadness but also excitement that I am announcing my resignation as
Councilman of Ward II for the City of North Olmsted effective February 201" this year.
I have spent an amazing 11 and a half years in this seat as well as a little more than ten
years previously to that as a volunteer with the first Community Policing Citizens
Committee, the first on the Community Development Block Grant Citizens Advisory
Committee and on the Landmarks Commission.
My involvement with the City I grew up in is because of a young man who came to my
door seeking my vote for the office I now hold. We became friends, we ended up
working together on Council and I will always appreciate the friendship we have, the
mentoring and the guidance he has given me through the years, thank you Michael.
The close relationship that our Mayor and former Council President and I developed
when we both came onto this Council in 2005, Thank you Kevin.
The friendship, guidance and financial advice given to me from our Finance Director,
thanks Carrie.
Nicole, we were introduced by a magnificent person who worked very hard for our City,
Mr. Don Copeland, we hit it off from the day you and I met and our friendship has grown
and is something I will always hold near and dear to my heart.
To my fellow colleagues, this is one of the best Council's I have worked with and I have
worked with many in my time up here and I thank you all for your friendship and respect
over these years.
To Directors Glauner, Wenger and Gallo, our jobs up here are made easier because of
your dedication, help, advice and most of all the friendship developed over the years. I
thank you for your service to our community.
In talking about these great friends up here it came to me on how many people on
Council and the Administration's I have worked with over the years. It has been two
P
