Council Minutes of 5-2-2017
of North Olmsted Planning and Design Commission, as amended. Councilman Schumann
moved for adoption. The motion was seconded by Councilman Rahm and passed
unanimously. Ordinance 2017-32 adopted 7-0.
Councilman Schumann made a comment with his yes vote. In regards to what Mr.
Cuevas brought up. Twice now, we have voted on a prohibition and are waiting to see
what happens with the State of Ohio. I think the fact that we have put this prohibition in
the bill is part of that. The thing is the City of North Olmsted is a compact, a contract,
between all the people that live here. As representatives, we have decided this is the way
we are going to go with this. We are not in favor of having marijuana grown here or
dispensaries in the City limits. It's something we can change our minds about later. We
can change the planning later, but as of right now that is why we have chosen to go that
way. We have already made a decision twice to do that and we are continuing to do that.
When the State figures out what they are going to do, that may change, but that's where
we are at.
Ordinance 2017-36 introduced by Mayor Kennedy and was given its second reading. An
Ordinance authorizing the Mayor to advertise for bids for the award of a contract to
provide construction services for the Recreation Center Tennis and Gymnastics Roof
Renovation, as detailed in the specifications on file in the Department of Parks and
Recreation, and authorizing the Mayor, following approval of the Board of Control, to
contract for the same with the lowest and best bidder.
Resolution 2017-37 introduced by Mayor Kennedy and was given its second reading. A
Resolution authorizing the Mayor to enter into a cooperative agreement with the City of
Westlake to provide for the improvement of Columbia Road from 300' south of
Carnation Run Drive, northbound to the corporation line, together with additional
financial terms and conditions. Councilwoman Williamson made a motion to suspend the
rules requiring three readings as this was heard in Committee and is time sensitive. The
motion was seconded by Councilwoman Hemann and passed unanimously.
Councilwoman Williamson moved for adoption.
