Council Minutes of 10-17-2017
Council President Jones reminded Council and the audience the next Council Meeting
will be held on Wednesday, November 8`" as Election Day is on November 7.
The Mayor swore in Robert Wagner as North Olmsted's new Police Chief. A copy of the
oath is included with the minutes. Chief Wagner thanked everyone in attendance and said
it shows the City has faith in him as the new leader. He said he is super excited to take on
the role. He thanked the Mayor and all of the Directors. Chief Wagner said there were
great candidates involved in the process and anyone of them would have been a good
choice. He said when he left the State Highway Patrol 20 years ago to join the North
Olmsted Police Department he wasn't sure if it was the right move in his life and he can
honestly look back and say it's been a great time. He once again expressed his thanks to
everyone including Council, the Civil Service Commission, his family, the guys in the
room that have worked with him, he's worked for or had worked for him. He thanked the
guys in the bureau and said he wouldn't be able to accomplish the things he has without
those guys doing the job they do every day. He thanked his wife and gave her flowers.
Chief Wagner said this is not only a token for what she has done, but what she is going to
go through in the future.
Chief Wagner said in today's climate it is tough to be a cop and everyone knows they are
under huge scrutiny, but he is looking forward to the challenge. He said what he can tell
the public is you couldn't ask for a better group, from the guys in the bureau, Sue
Waddell, Captain Cox, the support staff, dispatchers to auxiliary. He said if he forgot
anybody, he is sorry.
With the agenda being completed and there being no further business to come before
Council, President Jones adjourned the Council meeting at approximately 8:26 p.m.
Charles Massarolo II, Clerk of Council Nicole Dailey Jones, Pes' t of Council
G
