MINUTES OF THE MEETING OF THE COUNCIL <br />OF THE CITY OF NORTH OLMSTED <br />MARCH 6, 2018 <br />Present: Council President Jones, Council Members Brossard, Glassburn, Hemann, <br />Limpert, Schumann & Williamson <br />Also Present: Mayor Kennedy, Director of Finance Copfer, Director of Human <br />Resources Gallo, Director of Safety & Service Glauner, Director of <br />Planning & Development Lieber, and Clerk of Council Massarolo <br />Absent: Councilman Kearney <br />Council President Jones called the meeting to order at 8:00 p.m. in Council Chambers, <br />5200 Dover Center Road, North Olmsted, Ohio. <br />Members of the audience were invited to join Council in the recitation of the Pledge of <br />Allegiance. <br />Councilman Brossard moved to remove Resolution 2018-25 from the agenda. The motion <br />was seconded by Councilman Schumann and passed unanimously. Resolution 2018-25 <br />removed by a vote of 6-0. <br />The Council meeting minutes of February 20, 2018 were approved as written. <br />The following legislation will be considered for passage under suspension of the rules <br />this evening: Second Reading — Ordinance 2018-17, Resolution 2018-21, and Resolution <br />2018-22; First Reading — Resolution 2018-27, Resolution 2018-28, Resolution 2018-29, <br />Resolution 2018-30 and Resolution 2018-31. <br />REPORTS <br />Mayor Kennedy: <br />• Residents will be getting information soon regarding four public meetings for the <br />Recreation Center upgrades. There will be four "interactive" meetings so one can <br />check out different phases and ask questions. It will not be one presentation, so <br />people can come at any time during the Open House. <br />Director of Law Gareau: <br />The City took action a while ago to terminate the employment of Patrolman Fox. <br />Since that time, Mr. Fox has applied for unemployment compensation and the <br />City objected, so it went to a hearing. That forum tends to be more inclined to <br />award unemployment and they awarded him unemployment. The City requested a <br />full review and it was denied. The City is now going to proceed to the Court of <br />Common Pleas to challenge the decision. If the City is not successful there, I will <br />challenge it at the Court of Appeals because I feel that strongly about it. The City <br />also received a letter from Mr. Fox's attorney who is claiming his discharge is a <br />violation of federal law. I also object to that and will vigorously defend the City <br />
