Rev 5/9/18 <br />(d) The determination of the length of time for suspension shall be within the sound <br />discretion of the Building Commissioner, reasonably exercised and calculated to take remedial <br />action and protect the public interest. No set formula is established but the Building <br />Commissioner is authorized to impose a suspension based upon the above factors. <br />1317.07 FEES. <br />(a) Fees for certificates of registration, and renewals thereof shall be paid at the office <br />of the Building Commissioner, as follows: <br />(1) For registration, $150.00 upon original issue and $75.00 upon annual <br />renewal; <br />(2) For any renewals not timely under Section 1317.08(a), inasmuch as the <br />certificate will have expired, the renewal fee shall be equal to the original <br />issuance fee imposed hereinabove. <br />(b) Fees shall be payable upon filing of the application for a certificate and again <br />annually upon renewal thereof. <br />1317.08 EXPIRATION AND RENEWAL OF REGISTRATION. <br />(a) Certificates of registration shall expire one year from the date of issuance and <br />may be renewed during the thirty -day period immediately preceding or following the expiration <br />date upon payment of the prescribed renewal fee, provided that no certificate, which has been <br />revoked or is under suspension, shall be renewed and no certificate shall be renewed when there <br />are uncorrected violations of the Building Code charged on the records to the holder of such <br />certificate. <br />(b) Renewal applications shall be upon a form designated by the Building <br />Commissioner and shall, as a condition of renewal, require the applicant to present current or <br />updated documentation required by Section 13I7.04(e). <br />1317.09 FIRMS OR CORPORATIONS INSTALLING WORK. <br />(a) No firm or corporation shall do any work or otherwise engage in the business of a <br />construction contractor, or act in any capacity for which a license or registration is required by <br />this Building Code unless at least one responsible member, officer or employee of such firm or <br />corporation has been issued a certificate by this Municipality to make such installations. All <br />work performed by such firm or corporation shall be under direct supervision of the person so <br />authorized. Revocation or suspension of the certificate of registration of such person shall revoke <br />or suspend, respectively, the right of such firm or corporation to perform or engage in the <br />business authorized by such certificate. Nothing herein shall be construed to preclude or prohibit <br />a corporation or firm from doing business, following the revocation or suspension of its <br />registered representative, so long as another individual person employed by said company <br />obtains or maintains a valid certificate and provides direct supervision of all work in lieu of the <br />corporate personnel under sanction. <br />(b) No person, firm, corporation or contractor shall knowingly subcontract to any <br />second party when that party does not possess a current certification of registration or local <br />license. <br />1317.99 PENALTY. <br />(a) In addition to any other civil or criminal penalties, any person, firm, corporation <br />or contractor who engages in the work or trade of a contractor without first acquiring a certificate <br />of registration, or otherwise violates Section 1317.05 and 1317.09, shall be subject to one or <br />more of the following penalties: <br />(1) A monetary penalty of twice the annual certification fee and, after Notice <br />to Stop Work is issued, a per diem monetary penalty of the same amount; <br />and <br />(2) The Building Commissioner shall order compliance with any and all <br />
