ARTICLE; V WORK WEF,K/SCHEDULED HOURS <br />5.01 For the purpose of this agreement, a workday is defined as continuous eight (8) hour <br />period in any twenty-FOur hour period, except during those periods which a double back occurs. <br />A double back is defined as the work period in which an employee completes a shift and starts <br />another shift or assignment within the same twenty-four hour period. Double backs required by <br />the Employer will be paid at time and one-half'( 1 %). A workweek is defined as forty (40) <br />hours. <br />5.02 Compensation for regularly scheduled eight (8) hour days shall be at the straight -time <br />rate of pay. <br />AR'T'ICLE VI OVERTIME/EXTRA DlJ'fY/CALL OUT/COMPENSATORY 13ANK <br />6.01 Employees shall be paid one and one-half (I '/) times their regular rate of pay for all <br />hours required to be worked in excess of the work day or week as defined in Section 5.01, or <br />may choose to bank and/or convert those hours at their overtime rate up to a maximum of one <br />hundred twenty (120) hours per each year of this agreement. <br />6.02 Each employee shall have the right to convert overtime hours into compensatory time <br />with the approval ofthe Police Chief or his designee on a dollar -for -dollar basis. Employees <br />shall be paid for all compensatory time accumulated in excess of four hundred eighty hours (480) <br />on the next scheduled pay. <br />Employees may have the right to take compensatory time when the time off does not <br />interfere with the operation of the Police Department. The taking off of such compensatory time <br />shall be subject to the approval ofthe Police Chief or his designee. Overtime shall be converted <br />to compensatory time at the current rate of pay plus longevity on a dollar for dollar basis. <br />An Employee or his estate shall be paid for unused, accumulated compensatory time at <br />the time ol'disability, retirement or death at a Basic FTourly Rate of Pay for his workweek plus <br />longevity if applicable. <br />Compensatory time shall be taken in a one (I ) hour minimum block and thereafter % hour <br />increments, except at the start or end of a shift. Half (%z) hour increments may be used at the start <br />or end of shift. <br />6.03 Any employee who qualifies for overtime by virtue ofthe provisions of Section 1 hereof <br />shall be paid a minimum of two (2) hours when required to report for extra duty over and above <br />his regular work day and work week. Such an employee shall also be paid a minimum of two (2) <br />hours for appearance at the Rocky River Municipal Court. A minimum of four (4) hours Cot- <br />appearance <br />orappearance at the Grand Jury, Common Pleas Court or Juvenile Court when the same are <br />required, and are also at a time other than the employees regular work tour.
