MINUTES OF THE MEETING OF THE COUNCIL <br />OF THE CITY OF NORTH OLMSTED <br />SEPTEMBER 4, 2018 <br />Present: Council President Jones, Council Members Brossard, Glassburn, Hemann, <br />Kearney, Limpert, Schumann & Williamson <br />Also Present: Mayor Kennedy, Director of Human Resources Gallo, Director of Law <br />Gareau, Director of Safety & Service Glauner, Director of Planning & <br />Development Lieber and Clerk of Council Massarolo <br />Council President Jones called the meeting to order at 8:00 p.m. in Council Chambers, <br />5200 Dover Center Road, North Olmsted, Ohio. <br />Members of the audience were invited to join Council in the recitation of the Pledge of <br />Allegiance. <br />Council President Jones asked for a moment of silence to honor Father Thomas Flynn. <br />Father Flynn founded the Church of Saint Clarence in North Olmsted in 1978 and had <br />also served as an Associate Pastor at Saint Richard's also in North Olmsted. Father Flynn <br />was the first point of contact for many people who moved into North Olmsted and could <br />be considered single -handily the welcoming committee for this city for many years. He <br />will be remembered for his love of this community. <br />The Council meeting minutes of August 21, 2018 were approved as written. <br />The following legislation will be considered for passage under suspension of the rules <br />this evening: First Reading — Resolution 2018-86, Resolution 2018-87. <br />REPORTS <br />Mayor Kennedy: <br />• No report. <br />Director of Law Gareau: <br />• The Saumer house, located at 30399 Lorain Road, which is the house that has <br />been a property maintenance nightmare, has demolition equipment out front so we <br />hope to see it removed soon. Council originally had approved the City to knock it <br />down, but the Law Department has managed to get them to pay for it. Hopefully <br />the property will be cleaned up quickly. <br />• Father Flynn was a wonderful person. Director Gareau has known him his entire <br />life at Saint Richard's as a student and at Saint Clarence when they founded the <br />church. He was a great person and will be remembered. <br />Director of Finance Copfer: <br />• No report. <br />
