CITY OF NORTH OLMSTED ORDINANCE NO. 2018 — 94 BY: Mayor Kennedy AN ORDINANCE AUTHORIZING THE MA YOR TO ENTER INTO A CONTRACT WITH VERIZON WIRELESS TO PROVIDE CELLULAR PHONE REPLACEMENTS TOGETHER WITH POLICE AND FIRE FIRST RESPONDER PRE-EMPTION SERVICES, AND DECLARING AN EMERGENCY. WHEREAS, the City of North Olmsted is in need of a substitute communications platform dedicated to first responders; and WHEREAS, the City no longer intends to utilize the previously authorized AT&T FirstNet network; and WHEREAS, the City of North Olmsted requires highly secure and reliable communications during both day-to-day operations and disaster response and recovery, and when securing large events; and WHEREAS, it is the recommendation of the Director of Human Resources and the Mayor that the City enter into a contract with Verizon Wireless for Police and Fire First Responder Pre-Emption services and purchase necessary equipment; and WHEREAS, the City further desires to utilize Verizon Wireless to upgrade cellular telephones throughout the City of North Olmsted; and WHEREAS, this Council, acting upon the recommendation of the Director of Human Resources desires the Mayor to discontinue the contract with AT&T Mobility National Accounts LLC for the FirstNet program and to enter into a contract with Verizon Wireless. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF NORTH OLMSTED, COUNTY OF CUYAHOGA, AND STATE OF OHIO: SECTION 1: That the Mayor be and he hereby is authorized to discontinue the City contract with AT&T Mobility National Accounts LLC to provide the FirstNet service and equipment. Any funds previously appropriated by this Council to satisfy the contractual terms for the AT&T Mobility National Accounts LLC FirstNet contract be and the same are hereby unappropriated for that purpose.
