CITY OF NORTH OLMSTED <br />ORDINANCE NO. 2018 — 94 <br />BY: Mayor Kennedy <br />AN ORDINANCE AUTHORIZING THE MA YOR TO ENTER INTO A <br />CONTRACT WITH VERIZON WIRELESS TO PROVIDE CELLULAR <br />PHONE REPLACEMENTS TOGETHER WITH POLICE AND FIRE <br />FIRST RESPONDER PRE-EMPTION SERVICES, AND <br />DECLARING AN EMERGENCY. <br />WHEREAS, the City of North Olmsted is in need of a substitute communications <br />platform dedicated to first responders; and <br />WHEREAS, the City no longer intends to utilize the previously authorized AT&T <br />FirstNet network; and <br />WHEREAS, the City of North Olmsted requires highly secure and reliable <br />communications during both day-to-day operations and disaster response and recovery, <br />and when securing large events; and <br />WHEREAS, it is the recommendation of the Director of Human Resources and <br />the Mayor that the City enter into a contract with Verizon Wireless for Police and Fire <br />First Responder Pre-Emption services and purchase necessary equipment; and <br />WHEREAS, the City further desires to utilize Verizon Wireless to upgrade <br />cellular telephones throughout the City of North Olmsted; and <br />WHEREAS, this Council, acting upon the recommendation of the Director of <br />Human Resources desires the Mayor to discontinue the contract with AT&T Mobility <br />National Accounts LLC for the FirstNet program and to enter into a contract with Verizon <br />Wireless. <br />NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY <br />OF NORTH OLMSTED, COUNTY OF CUYAHOGA, AND STATE OF OHIO: <br />SECTION 1: That the Mayor be and he hereby is authorized to discontinue the <br />City contract with AT&T Mobility National Accounts LLC to provide the FirstNet <br />service and equipment. Any funds previously appropriated by this Council to satisfy the <br />contractual terms for the AT&T Mobility National Accounts LLC FirstNet contract be <br />and the same are hereby unappropriated for that purpose. <br />
