MINUTES OF THE MEETING OF THE COUNCIL <br />OF THE CITY OF NORTH OLMSTED <br />NOVEMBER 20, 2018 <br />Present: Council President Jones, Council Members Brossard, Glassburn, Hemann, <br />Limpert, Schumann & Williamson <br />Also Present: Mayor Kennedy, Director of Finance Copfer, Director of Human <br />Resources Gallo, Director of Law Gareau, Director of Safety & Service <br />Glauner, Director of Planning & Development Lieber and Clerk of <br />Council Massarolo <br />Council President Jones called the meeting to order at 8:00 p.m. in Council Chambers, <br />5200 Dover Center Road, North Olmsted, Ohio. <br />Members of the audience were invited to join Council and Cub Scouts Pack 153 in the <br />recitation of the Pledge of Allegiance. <br />The Council meeting minutes of October 16, 2018 and November 7, 2018 were approved <br />as written. <br />The following legislation will be considered for passage under suspension of the rules <br />this evening: Second Reading: Ordinance 2018-99 and Resolution 2018-106; First <br />Reading: Resolution 2018-110, <br />REPORTS <br />Mayor Kennedy: <br />• The North Olmsted Noel is on Sunday, December 2"d at North Olmsted Park from <br />2-5p.m <br />• The City offices will be closed on Thursday and Friday for Thanksgiving. <br />• Congratulations to the Officers of the Year. Ryan DiMatteo was named Police <br />Officer of the Year and Shaun Kasza was named Firefighter of the Year. <br />Director of Law Gareau: <br />• In the matter of State ex rel. James Connell et al. v. the City of North Olmsted, <br />negotiations toward a resolution seem to be bearing fruit. Hopefully, there will be <br />a resolution to this class action flooding case in the very near future. <br />• In the matter of the City of North Olmsted v. Christopher Fox, which is the <br />arbitration arising from the termination of former police officer Fox. Two updates <br />since we last got together. First, the City of North Olmsted filed its Brief of <br />Employer on November 5t". Second, on November 16`x, the arbitrator denied the <br />appeal of Mr. Fox and the termination stands. The City defended against his <br />grievance and was successful in the defense. <br />• On a personal note, I consider it a privilege to work here. I think I can speak for <br />the Administration in saying we expect our employees to conduct themselves as <br />proud professionals at all times and with dedication. When the situation arises <br />where someone is no longer conducting themselves in the way we expect of our <br />
