MINUTES OF THE MEETING OF THE COUNCIL
OF THE CITY OF NORTH OLMSTED
DECEMBER 4, 2018
Present: Council President Jones, Council Members Brossard, Glassburn, Hemann,
Kearney, Limpert, Schumann & Williamson
Also Present: Mayor Kennedy, Director of Finance Copfer, Director of Human
Resources Gallo, Director of Law Gareau, Director of Safety & Service
Glauner, Director of Planning & Development Lieber and Clerk of
Council Massarolo
Council President Jones called the meeting to order at 8:00 p.m. in Council Chambers,
5200 Dover Center Road, North Olmsted, Ohio.
Members of the audience were invited to join Council in the recitation of the Pledge of
Allegiance.
Council President Jones asked the audience to join Council in a moment of silence in
recognition of former President George H.W. Bush, who recently passed away.
The Council meeting minutes of November 20, 2018 were approved as written.
The following legislation will be considered for passage under suspension of the rules
this evening: Second Reading: Resolution 2018-109.
REPORTS
Mayor Kennedy:
• No Report.
Director of Law Gareau:
• On November 28th there was a meeting regarding the City of North Olmsted v.
Alexander Gondeah case which is the Airbnb case. It is now concluded. The
property will cease being an Airbnb property effective December 10, 2018. They
already had some rentals there and they wanted to finish those up. At their
request, they are going to vacate the premises by December 15, 2018 and put the
property up for sale sometime in mid-January 2019. This should solve the issue
with the property and the neighbors. If there are problems with noncompliance the
City now has the ability to enforce it through the court, but I believe they will
follow through as they have been cooperative up to now.
• The past few days I have been attending legal seminars regarding topics such as:
Ethics in Government, Open Meetings, Public Meetings and many other topics. I
will also be doing this tomorrow to get caught up on different legal issues.
• Congratulations to Saint Edward High School, they won their third state
championship in five years. They have some North Olmsted athletes on the team
that are active and key players so congratulations to them.
