Council Minutes of 1-2-2019
Mr. Dufala said he wanted to address the sidewalk program. He said West Ranchview
and Ranchview are unique streets in the City. They are the only two streets in the city that
does not have a tree lawn and the curb is the sidewalk. He said there is two inches or less
for the curb. He said, while the Service Department does a great job of clearing the street
and salting the roads, the plows have a tendency to damage their sidewalks. Mr. Dufala
said 41 of 61 houses in the neighborhood have markings on the sidewalk for repair. He
says this is unusual. He said it is the plows dump everything on the sidewalk and some of
the car dealerships and others use the sidewalks to test cars to make sure the car doesn't
have rattles. He said he understood it's the resident's responsibility to fix their sidewalks.
He has no problem with that, but he would like some help with it because they are going
to be damaged by plows and other things.
Councilman Brossard said Mr. Dufala is correct and he has talked to Director Lieber
about the unique nature of the neighborhood. He said he apologized if this hadn't been
communicated, but there has been a reprieve of sorts as the City is reassessing the
situation. Councilman Brossard said for the time being the x's can be ignored. He hopes
for a positive outcome. He isn't sure what the outcome will be yet, but it is in the works
and he is sympathetic to the residents on those streets.
Mr. Dufala asked if it is safe for him to tell his neighbors they are on hold at this time.
Councilman Brossard said that is correct.
Mr. Dufala said he wanted to let the City know the man is who drove around doing the
markings was a nice person who was very informative and very understanding and did a
good job.
The Mayor said he will get with Director Lieber and talk about this issue.
LEGISLATION
Ordinance 2018-103 introduced by Mayor Kennedy was given its third reading. An
Ordinance authorizing the Mayor to request proposals for plumbing, heating, ventilation,
air conditioning and plumbing preventative maintenance services for the City's Division
of Recreation and further authorizing the Mayor, subject to approval of the Board of
Control, to enter into an agreement with the contractor selected in the RFP process.
Councilman Kearney moved for adoption. The motion was seconded by Councilman
Brossard and passed unanimously.
Roll Call:
Yes: Kearney, Brossard, Hemann, Williamson, Glassburn, Schumann, Limpert
No: None
Motion carried. Ordinance 2018-103 adopted 7-0.
Ordinance 2018-112 introduced by Mayor Kennedy was given its third reading. An
Ordinance to make appropriations for capital improvements for the City of North
4
