C. 3781.181 <br />? 1303.01 INSULATION REQUIREMENTS BY CONSTRUCTION TYPES. <br />Every new residential dwelling structure, and every new addition to a dwelliug <br />structure, shall have properly installed thermal insulation with the following R/resistance <br />factors according to the building sections in which it is installed. <br />(a) Exterior Walls. <br />(1) Frame walls - R/11. <br />(2) Masonry walls above the frost line, including walls in living areas and <br />basements - R/5. <br />(3) Other fabricated exterior walls above grade - R/11. <br />(b) Ceilings. <br />(1) Conventional horizontal ceilings under ventilated attic spaces - R/22. <br />(2) Cathedral ceilings with conventional interior finish shall have insulation <br />between roof rafters - R/22. <br />(3) Cathedral ceilings with exposed beams and roof sheathing for interior finish <br />shall have built-up roof insulation - R/11. <br />(c) Floors. <br />(1) Frame floors over unheated areas - R/22. <br />(2) Slab-on grade floors shall have insulation at their perimeter - R/5; and <br />A. Installed vertically from the top of the slab floor to below the frost <br />line around the perimeter of the slab, or <br />B. Installed vertically from the top of the slab floor and extended down <br />the thickness of the slab and then continued horizontally back under <br />the slab to a width of at least two feet around the perimeter of the <br />?. slab floor. <br />(3) Heating/cooling ducts that are installed in slab floors shall be enclosed by <br />the warm winter side of the perimeter insulation in the manner provided in <br />subparagraph (2)B. hereof. <br />1982 Replacement
