Council Minutes of 4-02-2019
there and see the things that are getting done with those dollars. Dave Demaline
and Director Glauner did a good job.
Council President Jones, Committee of the Whole:
The Committee of the Whole met on Tuesday, April 2, 2019 at 6:30 p.m. Present were
Council members Brossard, Kearney and Williamson; Council President Jones; Director
of Finance Copfer, Director of Human Resources Gallo, Director of Safety & Service
Glauner and Road Foreman Demaline.
• This tour was extremely similar to the Streets & Transportation Committee tour
that was taken on Friday morning so I will defer to Councilman Limpert for more
details of the tour.
Councilman Limpert Chairman of the Streets and Transportation Committee:
The Streets & Transportation Committee met on Friday, March 29, 2019 at 7:15 a.m.
Present were committee members Limpert and Glassburn; Council members Hemann and
Schumann; Director of Human Resources Gallo, Director of Safety & Service Glauner,
Road Foreman Demaline and Clerk of Council Massarolo.
• The purpose of the meeting was to view the Streets throughout the City, focusing
on Streets rated five and six. These are some of the worst streets on a scale of 10
in the City. One thing to commend our Streets program on is the City is working
on streets rated and five and six right now. The tour also visited some streets rated
an eight through 10 to get an idea on how things look over time from when they
are repaired. I want to commend Mr. Glauner and Mr.Demaline. To see their
vigor and enthusiasm around maintaining the streets and their energy on
maintenance to try to keep streets going through the years as opposed to just
focusing on full repair of just the worst streets was good. Council has seen it
through the budget hearings as well. They are focusing on cracksealing, hot
patching and other methods to keep the streets working on a regular basis rather
than just waiting until a full repair is necessary. I think all of Council had a
similar experience we covered streets in each of the Wards. Council also had a
chance to see the new signalization command center. This has video monitoring
of the main intersections to monitor traffic flow and adjust the light. They also
have full mobile capability to monitor and control the lights from outside the
center as well.
Councilwoman Williamson Vice Chairwoman of the Public Safety, Health and Welfare
Committee:
The Public Safety, Health and Welfare Committee met on Tuesday, March 26, 2019 at
7:02 p.m. Present were committee members Williamson and Limpert; Council members
Glassburn, Hemann, Kearney and Schumann; Council President Jones; Mayor Kennedy,
Director of Safety & Service Glauner, Director of Planning & Development Lieber
Assistant Director of Law O'Malley and guests.
2
