Changes in the Butternut Ridge Historic District <br />Since the creation of the Butternut Ridge Historic District, changes have occurred including the demolition <br />and relocation of historic structures, as well as new construction. A list of these changes follows below. <br />Numerous additions and alterations have also been made to historic district properties, consistent with <br />approved Certificates of Appropriateness; however they are not included in this report. <br />Demolitions and Relocations <br />• 27706 Lorain Road: This commercial structure was last home to Rebecca's Floral & Design and a <br />chiropractor's office, which was demolished in 2005 for a new Halleen Kia dealership that was <br />approved but never constructed. The site has remained vacant since the demolition. <br />• 27516 Butternut Ridge Road: This single family home was demolished in 2002 after the city <br />purchased the land to construct the new North Olmsted Branch Library. <br />27501 Butternut Ridge Road (PPN 235-16-021): <br />This single family home, known as the Thompson <br />House, originally built in the 1830s, was relocated <br />to the Frostville Museum in 2016 after the property <br />was purchased by the school district. It was one of <br />the oldest original structures in the historic district <br />and was preserved from demolition through the <br />efforts of the Olmsted Historical Society in <br />partnership with the school district. Restoration <br />efforts are currently underway. <br />• 27488 Butternut Ridge Road: This single family <br />home was demolished in 2002 after the city <br />purchased the land to construct the new North <br />Olmsted Branch Library. <br />• 27450 Butternut Ridge Road: This single family <br />home was demolished in 2002 after the city <br />purchased the land to construct the new North <br />Olmsted Branch Library. <br />• 27425 Butternut Ridge Road (PPN 235-16-057): <br />This structure was originally constructed as the <br />North Olmsted Branch Library and was later <br />Page 12 <br />
