Council Minutes of 8-20-2019 <br />Councilman Kearney Chairman of the Recreation, Public Parks and Buildings <br />Committee: <br />The Recreation, Public Parks and Buildings Committee met on Tuesday, August 13, 2019 <br />at 6:30 p.m. at the Recreation Center. Present were committee members Kearney, <br />Hemann & Brossard; Council members Glassburn, Limpert, Schumann and Williamson; <br />Director of Finance Copfer, Director of Safety & Service Glauner, Director of Planning <br />& Development Lieber, Recreation Commissioner Drenski, Assistant Recreation <br />Commissioner Wetmore and guests. <br />• A tour was given to Council and the Administration to show the condition of the <br />Recreation Center infrastructure. The indoor pool has to be closed down <br />whenever the power goes out until bubbles in the water subside and the life <br />guards can see the bottom of the pool. There is fear everytime the outdoor pool <br />goes down for painting the wall may cave in. The pump room is also in need of <br />upgrades. The roof for the ice rink is a safety hazard and needs to be replaced and <br />there is a fear if the ice needs to go down during the roof repair the chillers may <br />not be able to bring the ice back. The boards need to be replaced. The fitness <br />center looks good and the equipment is holding up nicely. <br />The Recreation Public Parks and Buildings Committee met again on Tuesday, August 13, <br />2019 at 8:05 p.m. in the Caucus room. Present were committee members Kearney, <br />Hemann & Brossard; Council members Glassburn, Limpert, Schumann and Williamson; <br />Director of Finance Copfer, Director of Human Resources Gallo, Director of Safety & <br />Service Glauner, Director of Planning & Development Lieber, Recreation Commissioner <br />Drenski, Assistant Recreation Commissioner Wetmore and guests. <br />• Discussed first was Ordinance 2019-72. An Ordinance amending Ordinance No. <br />2014-4 to further amend fee ranges, to reorganize the format of the fee structures <br />and to restate the program fees for use of park and recreation facilities. The fees <br />have not been raised in years and the administration felt now was the time. The <br />committee voted 3-0 to recommend to Council. <br />• Discussed next was Resolution 2019-73. A Resolution authorizing the Mayor to <br />renew the contract between the City and Karrie Skall Tipton / North Olmsted <br />Gymnastics, Inc. for the provision of professional gymnastics instruction services <br />at the North Olmsted Recreation Center for an additional term of one (1) year. <br />The committee voted 3-0 to recommend to Council. <br />• Lastly, Director Lieber informed Council the Administration planned to a) fix the <br />ice rink area; b) improve some of the ball fields at North Olmsted Park and c) to <br />build indoor basketball courts at the Recreation Center. <br />Councilman Brossard Chairman of the Public Safety, Health and Welfare Committee: <br />The Public Safety, Health and Welfare Committee met on Tuesday, August 20, 2019 at <br />7:25 p.m. Present were committee members Brossard and Limpert; Council members <br />Glassburn, Kearney and Schumann; Council President Jones; Mayor Kennedy, Director <br />of Safety & Service Glauner and guests. <br />2 <br />
