AGREEMENT ARTICLE: I PURPOSE 1.01 This Agreement is made between the City of'North Olmsted, hereinafter rcferrcd to as the "E�rtrp[oyer", and Ohio Council 8 and Local No. 2681 of the American 1,cderation of State, County, and Municipal Employees, Al=L-C 10. hereinafter referred to as the "Union,.. 'file purpose ofthis Agreement is to provide a fair and reasonable method of enabling employees covered by this Agreement to participate through Inion representation in the establishment of terms and conditions and of their ernployrnent. including rates ofpay, wages, hours and wkorking conditions, anis to establish a peaceful procedure for the resolution of all differences between the parties. ARTICLE 2 RECOGNI'T'ION 2.01 The Union is recognized as the sole and exclusive representative of the employees in the ,job classification listed in Exhibit A for the purpose of collective bargaining with respect to wages, hours, terms and other conditions of employment. ARTICLE 3 NON DIS(:'RIMINATION 3.01 Both the Employer and the Union recognize their respective responsibilities under the federal and state civil rights laws, fair employment practice acts and other similar constitutional and statutory requirements. Therefore, both the Employer and the Union hereby reaftirm their commitments, legal and moral. not to discriminate in any manner relating to cntplovntent ()It the basis of race, color, religion, national origin, sex, age or disability or any other invidious reason. 3.02 The Employer recognizes the rights of all employees and applicants for employment to be free to join the 1 -Inion and participate in la vilil_ concerted Union activities. Therefore, the Employer agrees that there shall be no discrimination, interference, restraint, coercion, or reprisal by the Employer against any employee or any applicant for employment because of [_inion membership or because ot'any lawful activity in an official capacity on behalf ofthe Union, 'fhe Union recognizes the right of all employees and all applicants for employritent to be free to join or not to join the Union. 3.03 All of the employees of the Employer within the bargaining unit shall receive equitable treatment and share in any all benefits provided herein. ARTICLE 4 UNION SECURITY 4.01 The Employer shall deduct the initiation lee and regular monthly dues from the pay of employees covered by this Agreement upon receipt from the Union of individual written authorization cards voluntarily executed by an employee for that Purpose and hearing his signature.
