Paychecks <br />will normally be available on friday at noon for emplovices not scheduled to work Friday or have <br />completed their mwk at that time, and at the end of the da} shift for other employees. Paychecks <br />ti)r employees ending their scheduled week at 8:30 a.m. on I riday will be availahlc at 8:30 a.m. <br />on that Friday. <br />In the event of a shortage of an employee paycheck. that exceeds 525.00; such shortage <br />shall be paid within forty-eight (48) hours after notification ofshortage is made to the supervisor. <br />ARTIC1,E 33: <br />COMMUNICABLE DISEASES <br />SECTION 1: The parties hereto agree that the duties 01'111C employees are such that said <br />employees are exposed to disease as a result of their assigned duties. It is the intention of the <br />parties to provide to said employees, salary continuation Benefits when an employee contracts an <br />illness as herein after specified. <br />In the event that a full-time employee should become ill due to contact with AIDS. I IIV. <br />Ilepatitis, Tubercuk)sis.. MRSA or Meningitis and such illness has so incapacitated the employee <br />that he/she temporarily is unable to work, the police Chid shall investigate and determine <br />whether the illness is work related and of a temporary nature. The Police Chief shall then <br />forward his finding to the Safety Director who shall determine the nature and extent of the illness <br />and how contracted. including circumstances thereof. If after consideration of the totality of the <br />facts the Safety Director determines that. said disease w,as contracted during employment and is <br />of a temporary nature requiring medical leave. the Safety Director shall authorize the full <br />payment of, the employees' regular salar} for a period of nincly (90) da) s. <br />If after ninety (90) days an illness still temporarily incapacitates the employee. the Safety <br />Director shall recommend to Council whether to continue salary. Council shall forthwith review <br />the matter and by a majority vote determine vvhether the employee shall continue to receive full <br />salary during recuperation. <br />Any employee who qualities for henefllS under this section shall be required to pay over <br />to the Employer any amount received from the Bureau of Workers' Compensation as <br />supplemental wages. This provision does not apply if the City is self-insured for workers <br />compensation. If at any time the Employer determines on the basis of medical evidence that the <br />employee is permanently disabled and will no lon,,er be able to carry on his duties, then the <br />Employer may terminate payments and insist that the employee go inn a pension prograim. <br />Any employee that dualities for the benefits under this section shall not have his <br />accuimulated sick time reduced because ofa qualified illness which occurred while in the line of <br />duty. <br />25 <br />
