ARTICI_.[: 24 LABOR MANAGE Mi- N'I` COIF MI -f fl:C'-. <br />24.01 In the interest of sound Labor/Management relations. unless mutually agreed otherwise. <br />once each quarter on a mutually agreeable day and time. the Mayor, and appropriate designee(s) <br />shall meet with not more than one employee representative anis one non-employee representative <br />ofthe Union to discuss pending problems or issues ofconcern and to promote a more <br />harmonious Labor/Management relationship. <br />24.02 An agenda will be furnished upon request of either party at least five (5) workin<_,days in <br />advance ofthe scheduled meetings xvith a list of the matters to be taken up in the meeting, and <br />the names of those FOP representatives v-vho will be attending. <br />24.03 It is further agreed that ifsspecial I,afior/?Management meetings have been requested. and <br />mutually agreed upon. they shall be convened as soon as feasible. <br />ARTICLE 25 COMWINICABLE DISEASES <br />25.01 The parties hereto agree that the duties ofthe employee are such that said employees are <br />exposed to disease as a result oftheir assigned duties. It is the intention ofthe parties to provide <br />to said employees, salary continuation benefits when an employee contracts an illness as herein <br />after specified. Any time the Governor or Mavor declare a state of emergency the Employer <br />shall take all measures to equip members with protective gear, as recommended by the CDC. <br />necessary to assist them with fulfillinu) their duties. The cost of this protective gear shall be the <br />Employer's responsibility. <br />25.02 In the event that afull-time employee of the bargaining unit should become ill due to <br />contact with AIDS, H1V. Hepatitis. Tuberculosis, MRSA, Meningitis.. COVID or other <br />communicable disease, and such illness has so incapacitated the employee that he temporarily is <br />unable to work, the Police Chief shall investigate and determine whether the illness is work <br />related. The Police Chief shall then forward his finding to the Safety Director who shall <br />determine the nature and extent ofthe illness and how contracted. including circumstances <br />thereof. If after consideration of the totality, ofthe facts the Safety Director determines that said <br />disease was contracted during employment and may require medical leave. the Safety Director <br />shall authorize the full payment of the employees' regular salary by the Employer for a period of <br />ninety (90) days. This continuation of payment shall not be deducted from any of the <br />employce-s accumulated time banks. <br />25.03 If after ninety (90) datis an illness still incapacitates the employ ee, the Safety Director <br />shall recommend to Council whether to continue their salary for a successive ninety (90) day <br />period or parts thereof. Council shall forthwith review the matter and by a majority vote <br />determine \vhether the employee shall continue to receive full salary during recuperation. <br />20 <br />
