Council Minutes of 12-01-2020
Councilman Glassburn voted no with comment. It is urgent that we resolve both the
Public Safety and Service components of what was previously served by one individual.
We need qualified individuals to serve both roles. If we're not going to have that as a
joint position, we need to find two separate individuals, or have a much, much cleaner
organizational plan for determining how those roles will be absorbed. Thank you,
Madame President.
Councilwoman Hemann voted no with comment. I believe we should be looking for both
candidates at the same time or putting forth a candidate that can fill both positions. I'm
not in favor of leaving the safety position open to a discretionary length of time, perhaps
as long as a year, and would like to see a discussion on both positions. Thank you.
Councilwoman Williamson voted no with comment. I reflect the ideas of my colleagues
who have already spoken, but I believe this pandemic has also proven we do need a
Safety Director, whether it be a part-time or combined with our service position. Thank
you.
Resolution 2020-126 introduced by Mayor Kennedy was given its second reading. A
Resolution authorizing the Mayor to purchase a new 375 KVA Generator from Ohio
CAT at a cost of $61,300.00 for the Lebern Pump Station, through a State Purchase
Program; and further authorizing the Mayor to execute all contract documents for
purchase of the same, and declaring an emergency, as amended. Councilwoman Hemann
moved for suspension of the rule requiring three readings as it was heard in committee
and actually the flooding issue that we have creates a public safety hazard and I believe
suspension is warranted. The motion was seconded by Councilman Glassburn and passed
unanimously.
Roll Call:
Yes: Hemann, Glassburn, Kelly, Limpert, Schumann, Williamson, Brossard
No: None
Motion carried.
Councilwoman Hemann moved for adoption. The motion was seconded by Councilman
Glassburn and passed unanimously.
Roll Call:
Yes: Hemann, Glassburn, Brossard, Williamson, Schumann, Limpert, Kelly
No: None
Motion carried. Resolution 2020-126 adopted 7-0.
Ordinance 2020-127 was introduced and placed on first reading by Mayor Kennedy. An
Ordinance to make and transfer appropriations for current expenses and other
expenditures for the City of North Olmsted for the year ending December 31, 2020 and
declaring an emergency.
0
