The Recreation Center
is also hosting a youth lacrosse try for free day. Any girl or boy grade 2nd through
8'h are welcome to attend. Check the website for dates and times.
Director of Law Gareau:
• On October 14'h there was a pretrial in Rocky River Municipal Court for Amanda
Ramos Martinez on the charges related to the dog bite. There was no resolution
reached at this time. In the Cuyahoga County Court of Common Pleas the civil
side of this is scheduled for a case management conference on October 20. In the
meantime, the City has moved for an injunction to enforce the order issued by the
proceedings here in North Olmsted and have asked for an immediate hearing.
• The issue of the Westbury has come back up. There is a number of issues the City
has been dealing with over time and the case has gone on for a while. The case
has been deferred for sentencing and a plea was taken. The case is expected to be
resolved in favor of the City. The City would expect to see the Court impose a
fine and additional restrictions. It's interesting as there is a civil and a criminal
case and there is some banking and financing involved along with a third party
that has gotten involved in the civil case, which has helped the City receive a
result we think is in the best interest of the residents of North Olmsted. The goal
is to make sure we have a safe building and people in the community are safe.
