Council Minutes of 10-19-2021
Councilman Limpert asked for a moment of personal privilege. Not to be overly
redundant, I echo Ms. Copfer's comments to both those newly elected, and re-elected and
also those who did not, but who gave the effort and their time to try to better the residents
of North Olmsted. I think it's important to recognize that as well. Thank you.
Councilwoman Hemann asked for a moment of personal privilege. I would like to thank
all of the candidates. It is a very difficult thing. It takes a lot of time and hard work to
have a campaign and to work at your campaign. I would also like to thank all of the
voters who turned out and in particular those in Ward IV. I am very grateful and thankful
to them that I have the opportunity to continue to serve them. Thank you.
Councilman Kelly asked for a moment of personal privilege. I would like to congratulate
my colleagues who were elected to new positions, my colleagues re-elected to their
wards, Mr. Scarl who will be coming to his ward, Director Gareau & Director Copfer and
Mayor -elect to Parma Heights, our HR Director Ms. Gallo.
AUDIENCE PARTICIPATION
Andrew Falensky
23418 Mastick Road
Mr. Falensky said he has been a resident of North Olmsted for 17 years. He said for the
past 15 years he received and utilized the blue and green garbage cans. He has said the
garbage men have always done a great job picking up the garbage. However, Mr.
Falensky said a couple, of weeks ago took out a trash bag, a dresser and took the five
drawers out of the dresser as it was heavy to try to be considerate to the garbage
collectors. He said, they picked up everything but one drawer. He said he flagged the
person down and said there is still a drawer and asked if it could be taken. Mr. Falensky
said he was told it would not be taken as only six items are allowed. He said he was told
by taking the drawers out he created more garbage and he should have left them in the
dresser. Mr. Falensky said he called the City Service Department and was told it was out
of extreme courtesy that Republic has picked up more than six items over the years. He
said he was told it wouldn't be done anymore because several North Olmsted residents
are abusing the system.
Councilman Kelly moved to extend Mr. Falensky's time by five minutes. The motion
was seconded by Councilwoman Williamson and passed unanimously.
Roll Call:
Yes: Kelly, Williamson, Limpert, Schumann, Brossard, Glassburn, Hemann
No: None
Motion carried. Mr. Falensky's time extended by five minutes by a vote of 7-0.
Mr. Falensky continued the problem is if the garbage doesn't get picked up it will result
in mice, raccoons, etc. He said the other issue is because his garbage cans are old, he
called Republic and asked if he could have replacement lids. He said he was told
additional cans cost extra. He said he needed two of each because there are five in the
3
