Newburgh Heights Fire Department
4105 Harvard Ave.
Newburgh Heights, Ohio 44105
To Whom it May Concern, Date June 20, 2022
Newburgh Heights Fire Department (NHFD) joined the Chagrin Valley Dispatch (CVD) Brecksville
Center on June 26'', 2019. The planning and support from the CVD personnel leading up to this
transition made the change over to their dispatch center operation go so smoothly.
The CVD Brecksville Center helped implement a standard response protocol, and notification
systems for our Regional Fire Departments making it easier to dispatch needed resources to handle Fire
& EMS emergencies. CVD has been able to meet our needs, and I believe have been helpful to our
continued success here at NHFD.
Just under two (2) months being with CVD Brecksville Center, an August 19. 2019, Newburgh
Heights Fire Department experienced the biggest fire in departments history with a fully involved garage
fire with the fire spreading to three additional houses. CVD Dispatchers did a great job of handling all the
911 calls and dispatching the needed resources (over 12 fire departments were dispatched to assist us)
to extinguish these fires.
With any dispatch center, you are going to encountered issues or errors from time to time. CVD has a
`Continuous Improvement Process' that when an issue has occurred, CVD Staff research what
happened., reviews policies.. procedurestraining. and has the courage to admit the mistake, take
responsibility, and immediately seek to rectify the situation. Simply put, it means CVD is committed to
getting better all the time.
Based on my firsthand observation of CVD Brecksville Center performance over the past four (4)
years, I believe that CVD is fully capable of fulfilling your communication needs.
If you have any further questions, please let me know
Sincerely,
Brian Higginbotham
Fire Chief
Station Phone (216) 641-2134
Cell Phone. (216) 386-3804
Emair
