Special Council Minutes of 07-05-2022
AUDIENCE PARTICIPATION
Debbie Bores
13990 Collie Road
Columbia Station, OF
Speaking on behalf of her Dad, Jack Boss who lives at 31084 Lorain Road and has been a
North Olmsted Resident for 85 years. Her parents have been involved in the Community for 85
years and she was a resident for 29 years. She relayed her story of driving to Pine School at
the same time the Starbucks was being robbed causing the school to lock -down. Described her
calls with the dispatchers, during two incidents that day, as very calming and helpful during
those incidents. Feels it's better to have dispatchers who know the city in case of a mass
shooting
Mary Kate Kelly
Canterbury Road
Has been a resident for 23 years and is a registered nurse. Feels current dispatch team is very
knowledgeable about the community and its activities. She feels outsourcing the services will
lead to increased response times at added costs, and poorer outcomes for the community.
Tammy Farris
Dispatcher's Union Rep.
Westlake, OF
Wanted to address some issues heard that evening. Ms. Farris stated the legislation directing
regionalization does not apply to North Olmsted, only to wireless PSAPs. Asked 911 Cuyahoga
County Coordinators to speak at the meeting but they were not permitted. Discussed her
thoughts on the perceived notion that Chagrin Valley Dispatch is better equipped than North
Olmsted.
Bridgette Rhoda
Fairview Park, OH
Has been a dispatcher for 22 years for another Westshore city, stating her comments do not
reflect that of her department. With regard to the Administration stating that they are being
forced to regionalize. Ms. Rhoda stated that she has email confirmation from Mr. Rob Jackson,
the Ohio 911 Administrator, and Nancy Kulcan, the Cuyahoga County Coordinator clearly
stating that O.R.C. 128.571 only pertains to wireless PSAPs. Further stating that no
municipality is being penalized or losing funding for not joining a regionalized center.
Marty Lesher
Lewis Road
Olmsted Township, OF
She does not want dispatch to confuse Lewis Road in the Township with Lewis Road in North
Olmsted, noting CVD caused the death of a person by dispatching a call to the wrong place.
Ms. Lesher stated that CVD has a high turn -over and overworked people and feels the City
needs to look for local, long-term people who know what is going on because time is critical.
