MINUTES OF THE MEETING OF THE COUNCIL <br />OF THE CITY OF NORTH OLMSTED <br />AUGUST 16, 2022 <br />Present: Council President Brossard, Council Members Gilchrist, Glassburn, Hemann, <br />Kelly, Limpert, Scarl and Williamson. <br />Also Present. Mayor Nicole Dailey Jones and Director of Law Gareau and Director of Finance <br />and Copfer, H. R. Director, Economic Director, Service Director, Recreation <br />Director, Clerk of Council and guests. <br />Council President Brossard called the meeting to order at 8.01 p.m. in Council Chambers, 5200 <br />Dover Center Road., North Olmsted., Ohio. <br />Members of the audience were invited to join Council in the recitation of the Pledge of <br />Allegiance. <br />The Council Meeting Minutes of June 21, 2022 and August 2, 2022, and the Special Council <br />Meeting Minutes of June 27, 2022, were approved as written. <br />The following legislation was considered for suspension of the rules. On second reading <br />Resolution 2022-70 and on first reading was Resolution 2022-74 and Ordinance 2022-76. <br />REPORTS <br />Mayor Jones: <br />• On Monday, August 8, the North Olmsted Police Department building was struck by <br />lightning. Due to the lightning strike, Dispatch temporarily lost all radios (consoles) <br />showing the need for redundancy and other security measures. The consoles were <br />down for approximately one hour before full capability was restored. In the interim <br />period our Dispatchers used walkie-talkies to communicate. Expect to see these items in <br />the 2023 City Budget. <br />• The North Olmsted Police Department was just awarded $45,687.60 for the School <br />Resource Officer (SRO) position. This position is full-time. There is still funding for a <br />part-time resource office. <br />• On August 15th, the B -Shift at Fire Station 1 had a 48 -year-old male patient in full <br />cardiac arrest. The patient was defibrillated three times and was provided multiple <br />medications. He progressed through several pulseless heart rhythms. CPR was <br />performed and was transported to Fairview General Hospital. Mayor Jones commended <br />our paramedics and firefighters who epitomized professionalism and teamwork. <br />• Homecoming will be Thursday. August 25 through Sunday August 28. In the "Big Tent' <br />from 7-9 p. m., Friday. August 26 we will be hosting a "Meet & Greet Also featured will <br />be local artist and photographer James Ptacek and Tom Tokmenko. Fireworks will take <br />place at dusk at Great Northern Mall on Sunday, August 28. There will be food trucks <br />serving beginning at 5 pm. Volunteers are still being sought to assist. <br />
