MINUTES OF THE MEETING OF THE COUNCIL <br />OF THE CITY OF NORTH OLMSTED <br />DECEMBER 20, 2022 <br />Present: Council President Brossard, Council Members Gilchrist, Glassburn, Hemann, <br />Kelly, Limpert, Scarl and Williamson. <br />Also Present: Mayor Nicole Dailey Jones and Director of Law Gareau and Director of Finance <br />Copfer, H. R. Director, Economic Director, Safety Director, Service Director, <br />Recreation Director, Special Assistant to the Mayor, Clerk of Council and guests. <br />Council President Brossard called the meeting to order at 8:00 p.m. virtually via GoToMeeting <br />and explained to guests in attendance how public comment via the virtual format will be <br />handled to ensure all who want to speak have the opportunity. <br />The Council Meeting Minutes and Public Hearing Minutes of December 6, 2022 were approved <br />as written. <br />The following legislation was considered for suspension of the rules. On second reading <br />Ordinance 2022-122 and Ordinance 2022-123, and on first reading Resolution 2022-125 and <br />Ordinance 2022-126. <br />Council President Brossard thanked Councilman Kelly for his service to the community; <br />Councilman Kelly will be serving on the Cuyahoga County Council beginning January 1, 2023. <br />REPORTS <br />Mayor Jones: <br />• Mayor Jones reported on the three families adopted by City Hall employees, noting that <br />the employees contributed $3,500.00 for the families. <br />• The City is ready for the anticipated winter storm expected to arrive over the holiday <br />weekend. The North Olmsted Service Department has 25 employees, a total of 23 <br />vehicles, 6,500 gallons of liquid de-icer, and currently 1,800 tons of salt in our salt dome <br />ready for use. A request has been made for an additional 500 tons of salt. Contingency <br />plans are in place to make sure our residents are kept safe and our roads are kept clear. <br />• In observance of the Holiday Season, Republic Services trash collection will be delayed <br />one day during each of the following periods: December 29, 2022 to December 30, <br />2022, and January 5, 2023 to January 6, 2023. <br />• Mayor Jones swore in the newest police officer, Alex Johnson. His swearing-in will be <br />repeated in front of Council in early January, to allow his family and friends to be <br />present and celebrate the occasion. <br />
