MINUTES OF THE MEETING OF THE COUNCIL <br />OF THE CITY OF NORTH OLMSTED <br />APRIL 4, 2023 <br />Present: Council President Brossard, Council Members Gilchrist, Glassburn, Hemann, Limpert, <br />Madden, Scarl and Williamson. <br />Also Present: Mayor Nicole Dailey Jones and Director of Law Gareau and Director of Finance Copfer, <br />H. R. Director, Economic Director, Safety Director, Service Director, Recreation Director, <br />Special Assistant to the Mayor, Clerk of Council and guests. <br />Absent None <br />Council President Brossard called the meeting to order at 8:02 p.m. in Council Chambers, 5200 Dover <br />Center Road, North Olmsted, Ohio. <br />Members of the audience were invited to join Council in the recitation of the Pledge of Allegiance <br />The Council Meeting Minutes of March 21, 2023 were approved as written. <br />The following legislation was considered for suspension of the rules. On second reading Resolution <br />2023-38 and Ordinance 2023-39. <br />REPORTS <br />Mayor Jones: <br />• On April 3, 2023, North Olmsted Police, Fire, and Dispatch joined forces with other west side <br />safety services for extensive mass casualty training at the former Forest Elementary School and <br />Spruce Elementary School. Warning signs were posted and the training sites were secured. The <br />safety forces practiced a variety of role playing for scenarios that included simulated gun fire, <br />loud bangs as they practice breaching doors. <br />• The Mayor reported on a great turnout for the annual "Egg-Stravaganza" event. Approximately <br />300 people turned out and enjoyed some pre -Easter fun with the Easter Bunny and searching <br />for eggs. <br />• The Mayor attended a ground breaking for the new Freddie's Frozen Custard, 27350 Lorain <br />Road, and a grand opening on Saturday, April 1, 2023 for Balanced Air Heating and Cooling, <br />23672 Lorain Road. Freddie's is expected to open in early fall. <br />• Registration for Safety Town 2023 will be held at Old Town Hall from 4-8 p.m. on Wednesday, <br />April 19, and again on Saturday, April 22 from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Safety Town is a one-week course <br />that focuses on teaching children safe practices both at school and at home. Safety Town is an <br />excellent opportunity for children to explore their community through class activities and field <br />trips while learning important safety precautions. The children are instructed on when, where <br />and how to cross the street. They are taught bike safety, pedestrian safety, school bus safety, <br />fire safety, seat belt safety, 911 emergency calls and stranger danger. Safety Town is geared <br />
