MINUTES OF THE MEETING OF THE COUNCIL <br />OF THE CITY OF NORTH OLMSTED <br />AUGUST 1, 2023 <br />Present: Council President Brossard, Council Members Gilchrist, Glassburn, Hemann, Limpert, <br />Madden, Scarl and Williamson. <br />Also Present: Mayor Nicole Dailey Jones and Assistant Director of Law O'Malley and Director of <br />Finance Copfer, H. R. Director, Safety Director, Service Director, Recreation Director and <br />guests. <br />Absent: None. <br />Council President Brossard called the meeting to order at 8:00 p.m. in Council Chambers, 5200 Dover <br />Center Road, North Olmsted, Ohio. <br />Members of the audience were invited to join Council in the recitation of the Pledge of Allegiance <br />The Council Meeting Minutes of lune 20, 2023 and the Special Council Meeting Minutes of June 27, <br />2023 were approved as written. <br />The following legislation was considered for suspension of the rules. On first reading, Ordinance 2023- <br />87. <br />REPORTS <br />Mayor Jones: <br />• Mayor Jones read a proclamation in honor of the North Olmsted 10-U Hot Stove State <br />Champions. <br />• Nicklas Gorbulja took the Oath of Office in his new position as Sergeant and Mayor Jones swore <br />in three new officers, James Larkin, lames Schill and Deric Martin. <br />• A proclamation was read in honor of John Berndsen for his actions on March 21, 2022, as it <br />pertains to the robbery/officer involved shooting at Starbucks. Mr. Berndsen is a life-long <br />North Olmsted resident. <br />• Chief Wagner also presented Detective Roman, Patrolman Butcher and Patrolman Kelley with <br />the Medal of Valor for their parts in the Starbucks robbery as well. <br />• Mayor thanked Service Director Kearney and all members of his staff for their efforts in helping <br />residents clean-up after the storms two -weeks earlier, which resulted in basements flooding and <br />many downed trees. <br />• Mayor Jones reported that she received notification from Senator Sherrod Brown's office that <br />North Olmsted is in-line to receive $271,000.00 in funding to start the rehab of old town hall. <br />Additionally, North Olmsted is also receiving funding for the Clague Road Force Main project. <br />More details will be shared as they become available. <br />
