<br />• The City's contractor will begin demolition of the old Spruce and Forest Elementary Schools on
<br />or about Monday, August 7, 2023, with a completion targeted for the end of October. There will
<br />be several weeks of abatement before demolition begins. Spruce school is scheduled to be
<br />demolished first.
<br />• Cleveland.com has reported this morning that R. E. Warner and Associates have won a tax credit
<br />worth $550,000.00 to create 88 new jobs and about 6.4 million in annual payroll. R. E. Warner
<br />and Associates will move their current offices in Westlake to a new office in North Olmsted at
<br />the Great Northern Corporate Center.
<br />• Thursday, August 24, 2023, is the first day of school for the North Olmsted City School District.
<br />The district will hold its annual convocation at 8:30 a.m. on Monday, August 21", and all Council
<br />Members are invited to attend.
<br />• The City will host "BOOM" the annual fireworks display on Friday, August 31, 2023, at Great
<br />Northern Mall. Entertainment and food trucks will be available from 6:00 p.m. until the
<br />fireworks are completed.
<br />• Also, on Saturday, August 12, 2023, the City will present its final concert series performance
<br />featuring the Journey tribute band ESC4P3, at 6:00 p.m. Food trucks and alcohol will be
<br />available for purchase.
<br />• The North Olmsted Food Pantry has been collecting backpacks and school supplies to be
<br />distributed on Thursday, August 10, 2023, at 9:00 a.m. to area students in need.
<br />• The North Olmsted Community Council will host the Homecoming celebration from Thursday,
<br />August 24, 2023 through Sunday, August, 27, 2023, at the North Olmsted Community Park. This
<br />year's theme is "There's No Place Like Home". The North Olmsted Art's Commission will host an
<br />Art Exhibition on Saturday, August 2614, at 6:00 p.m.
<br />• On Wednesday, August 23, 2023, the Senior Center will be hosting a luncheon to honor those
<br />who are turning 90 or older.
<br />• Fall program registration at the Recreation Center begins on Monday, August 21, 2023. The fall
<br />programs run from September 18th - October 28th.
<br />• The Annual tax free shopping event will run from August 4 -7th, and Great Northern Mall will be
<br />participating.
<br />Assistant Director of Law O'Malley:

<br />Director of Finance Copfer:
<br />• The City's 2022 Audit was completed and filed with the Auditor's office on June 27, 2023. Since
<br />the Auditor uses an independent contractor to do our audit, the State of Ohio requires a quality
<br />review prior to public release of the Audit report, which occurred on July 31, 2023. Director
<br />Copfer noted the City received an unqualified opinion, as we normally do, and are working to
<br />make the report available on the Citys website.
<br />• The Tax Incentive Review Council met virtually on July 19, 2023, where the A -Loft Hotel CRA, the
<br />Vitalia Senior Living CRA, and the Great Northern TIFF were all approved for compliance in their
<br />2022 reporting, and were recommended for continuation into 2023.
<br />• The popular Annual Financial Report for 2022 was completed and sent to the printers for City-
<br />wide distribution by mid-August.
<br />• The April 30, 2023 YTD Summary was emailed to Council, along with the RITA Collections by
<br />Type.
