MINUTES OF THE MEETING OF THE COUNCIL <br />OF THE CITY OF NORTH OLMSTED <br />AUGUST 15, 2023 <br />Present: Council President Brossard, Council Members Gilchrist, Glassburn, Hemann, Limpert, <br />Madden, Scarl and Williamson. <br />Also Present: Mayor Nicole Dailey Jones and Director of Law Gareau and Director of Finance Copfer, <br />H. R. Director, Service Director and guests. <br />Absent: None. <br />Council President Brossard called the meeting to order at 8:01 p.m. in Council Chambers, 5200 Dover <br />Center Road, North Olmsted, Ohio. <br />Members of the audience were invited to join Council in the recitation of the Pledge of Allegiance. <br />ANNOUNCEMENTS <br />The Council Meeting Minutes of August 1, 2023 were approved as written. <br />The following legislation was considered for suspension of the rules. On second reading Resolution <br />2023-86. <br />REPORTS <br />Mayor Jones <br />• Mayor Jones reported that the fireworks event at Great Northern Mall and the final "Saturday in <br />the Park" summer concert with the Journey tribute band Escape were cancelled due to storms. <br />The City will be rescheduling the fireworks event and will report on same once scheduled. The <br />concert will be rescheduled to October 7, 2023, in conjunction with a planned combined Police <br />and Recreation and Public Engagement Department Halloween event, which will happen from 1- <br />3 p.m. at North Olmsted Community Park. This takes the place of last years' Trunk or Treat and <br />Trek at the Rec. <br />• The North Olmsted Police Department received a personal donation of $675 from North <br />Olmsted resident and School Board Member Tom Herbster for the purchase of 12 Life Vac units <br />that are being placed into NOPD Patrol Vehicles for immediate availability. Life Vac is a non- <br />invasive airway clearance device that can be used by anyone. <br />• The Citys Popular Annual Financial Report was mailed to all North Olmsted households this past <br />weekend. It is also posted on the City's website and available for downloading. Hard copies <br />were placed in Council Members mailboxes. <br />• The North Olmsted Community Council will present the annual Homecoming Thursday, August <br />24 through Sunday, August 27 at North Olmsted Community Park. On Friday at the "Big Tent" <br />there will be an exhibition and sale of local artists' and students' artwork. There will also be an <br />artist demo and children's activities in the "Big Tent' as well. The weekend will conclude with <br />the Homecoming Parade, which steps off at 1 p.m. Sunday from North Olmsted High School. <br />• The first day of school in the North Olmsted City School District will be Thursday, August 24. <br />
