Council Minutes of 08-15-2023 <br />• On Thursday, August 24, the North Olmsted Senior Center will host Debbie Darling, who will <br />present a multi -media presentation on the late and much beloved singer, Tony Bennett. Darling <br />and David Strieter will perform Bennett's greatest hits beginning at 12:30 p.m. in the North <br />Olmsted Community Cabin. <br />• On Wednesday, August 30, also at 12:30 p.m., singer Logan Wells will present "The Best of Patsy <br />Cline," and many other "Women of Country Music." At the North Olmsted Community Cabin as <br />well. <br />• More than 25 riders participated in the first "Bike with A Mayor" event on Thursday, July 27th, <br />including Cuyahoga County Executive Chris Ronayne. Additionally, 150 people attended the <br />Lorain Road Corridor Public Meeting that followed the bike ride. The Mayor thanked all <br />involved in the event and meeting, including Eddy's Bike Shop, Freddy's Frozen Custard for <br />providing the sweet treats for the community, and Sergeant Clean Car for their donations and <br />support. <br />• The Mayor picked the winners for the four car wash coupons and the Trek Marlin 5 bicycle, <br />valued at $750, which was donated by Eddy's Bike Shop. The winners of the car wash were: <br />o Car Wash: Jackie Artbauer, George Markusic, Frank Boulton and Scott Peskorski; <br />o Trek Marlin 5 Bicycle: Ching Fong. <br />• Mayor Jones further noted that the Administration has received over 1,000 unique comments <br />with regard to the Lorain Corridor Project. The Mayor thanked Council for encouraging their <br />residents to be engaged. <br />Director of Law Gareau: <br />• Director Gareau advised Council of three separate actions being filed in the Cuyahoga County <br />Court of Common Pleas. <br />• The first was Silverstein Firm, LLC, filed on August 2, 2023, which is a Chapter 2506 <br />Administrative Appeal, challenging the denial of the Zoning Code Application filed by Planet of <br />the Vapes. <br />• The second filing was by Kovach Group, LLC vs. Building Zoning Board of Appeals, this is also a <br />Chapter 2506 Administrative Appeal, challenging the final decision of the BZBA regarding KAVA <br />Bar. <br />• Lastly, a claim for damages filed by Ted Bowman against the City of Fairview Park and the City of <br />North Olmsted, pertaining to an arrest two years ago. This case was handed over to the <br />Insurance Company, for the Insurance Defense Counsel to handle. <br />Director of Finance Copfer: <br />• Director Copfer reported that the May 31, 2023, Detailed Financial Report were emailed to <br />Council and the Administration on August 15th. <br />Council President Brossard, Committee of the Whole: <br />The Committee of the Whole met on Tuesday, August 8, 2023 at 7:00 p.m. Present were all of Council, <br />Mayor Jones, Law Director Gareau, Finance Director Copfer, Human Resources Director Kidd, Director of <br />Economic and Community Development Upton, Service Director Kearney, Special Assistant to the Mayor <br />Massarolo and guests. <br />Discussed Resolution 2023-78, a Resolution authorizing the Administration to solicit Statements of <br />Qualifications (S.O.Q.) from qualified professionals to serve as the City's Audio/Visual Consultant to <br />design improvements to City Council Chambers and Caucus Facilities; and further authorizing the Mayor, <br />following approval of the Board of Control, to enter into a Consulting Agreement with the professional <br />
