Council Minutes of 12-19-2023 <br />• Mayor Jones advised all in attendance of the City's Service Department training for plowing and <br />salting, and reminded all that there is no parking on the hydrant side of the street. Also, no <br />parking between 2 a.m. and 6 a.m., when the snow depth exceeds two inches or when a snow <br />emergency is issued for the City. She also advised of the snow -plowing priorities: 1. Main <br />Streets; 2. Secondary Streets; 3. Residential streets within school zones; 4. All other Residential <br />streets and developments. In line with generally accepted salting practice, Mayor Jones noted <br />there will be limited salting during late evening/early morning hours from 11 p.m. — 4 a.m. as <br />salting is not as effective when traffic volumes are low. The goal is to have all streets cleared of <br />snow and ice within 24 hours or earlier after the conclusion of a snow event. <br />• National Skating Day will take place from 1-3 p.m. Sunday, January 7, 2024 at the North Olmsted <br />Recreation Center. There will be open skating, performances by the Cleveland Ice Storm, <br />concessions, prizes and free give -a -ways. <br />• The North Olmsted Home Holiday decorating contest continues. Winners will be announced on <br />Friday, December 22, 2023. A list of participating homes is up on the City website and has been <br />posted on social media, should anyone wish to view the houses. <br />• Mayor Jones and the Director of Public Safety joined the Westside police officers for their <br />annual Cops and Kids event. Children in local communities were selected to participate in a <br />shopping experience with local law enforcement at Walmart for the kids to buy toys. Walmart <br />and their employees raised $37,000 this year to provide a Merry Christmas to children In need. <br />• Mayor Jones provided a recap of the Holiday Brunch for all North Olmsted employees at <br />Springvale Ballroom. Donations totaled $1,500.00 to provide a marvelous Christmas for a <br />deserving family. <br />• Mayor Jones reminded those in attendance that trash pick-up will be delayed by one day in the <br />last week of 2023, as well as the first week of the New Year. Refuse will be picked upon Fridays <br />December 29 and January 5 because of the Christmas and New Year Holidays. <br />• Lastly, Mayor Jones wished all members of her Administration and City Council a very Merry <br />Christmas, and thanked At -Large Councilwoman Angela Williamson for her many years of <br />service to the City of North Olmsted. <br />Director of Law Gareau: <br />• Director Gareau also wished Councilwoman Williamson the best and thanked her for her <br />service. <br />• Director Gareau advised Council of the matter of Kovach Group, LLC. vs. Building, Zoning Board <br />of Appeals. The brief of the Appellant was filed by December 12, 2023. The brief of the <br />Appellee is due on the 27", and will be filed on behalf of the BZBA. <br />• The Law Department has been working for several months on the enforcement of our code with <br />regard to where registered sex offenders can reside within the City of North Olmsted. <br />Director of Finance Copfer: <br />• Director Copfer also wished Councilwoman Williamson well in her future endeavors and <br />thanked her for her service. <br />• Director Copfer advised Council that the October Financial Reports were sent to them earlier in <br />the day. <br />Councilwoman Williamson, Chairwoman of the Public Safety, Health and Welfare Committee did not <br />have a report, however, she did ask for a moment of personal privilege to highlight some of the <br />
