MINUTES OF THE MEETING OF THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF NORTH OLMSTED JANUARY 16, 2024 Present: Council President Brossard, Council Members Gilchrist, Glassburn, Hemann, Limpert, Madden, Scarl and Shymske. Also Present: Mayor Nicole Dailey Jones and Director of Law Gareau and Director of Finance Copfer, H. R. Director, Safety Director, Service Director, Special Assistant to the Mayor and guests. Council President Brossard called the meeting to order at 8:00 p.m. in Council Chambers, 5200 Dover Center Road, North Olmsted, Ohio. Members of the audience were invited to join Council in the recitation of the Pledge of Allegiance. ANNOUNCEMENTS The Council Meeting Minutes of January 3, 2024 and the Special Council Meeting Minutes of January 9, 2024 were approved as written. REPORTS Mayor Jones: • Mayor Jones advised that House Bill 229, known as the Brenna Brossard SUDEP Awareness Act was passed by the Ohio House of Representatives 91-0, and will go on to be introduced in the Senate. • Mayor Jones announced the Clague Road Force Main project will begin on January 17', and encouraged all to use alternate routes during this project, which is expected to be complete in May. • The City received news from the Ohio Department of Transportation that it is one of five local governments chosen for the Safe Routes to School grant. The City will receive $36,753.00 to develop a safe travel plan for the new elementary school, along with the high school and middle school. • The Mayor announced the soft -launch of the new Enterprise Permitting and Licensing platform, which allows permits and licenses to be secured online. Director of Law Gareau: • Director Gareau updated Council on a couple of pending matters in litigation, David Kovach, LLC vs. City of North Olmsted, as well as Ted Bowman vs. City of Fairview Park. Director of finance Copfer: • Director Copfer advised the Auditors will be starting their field work the week of January 22"d.
