Council Minutes of 03-20-2024 <br />• The Spring shred -it day will take place on March 23, 2024, from 9:00 — 12:00 p.m. at the North <br />Olmsted Recreation Center. Residents are allowed two bags or boxes for secure shredding. <br />Personal computers can also be recycled at this event. <br />• Nominations for the 2024 Citizen of the Year will close on April 5, 2024. Nominations received <br />after that date will be considered for the following year. The Citizen of the Year Banquet will <br />take place Thursday, April 25, 2024, at the North Olmsted Community Cabin beginning at 6 p.m. <br />• The North Olmsted Community Council set the dates for the 2024 Homecoming Festival to be <br />held August 22-25, 2024 at North Olmsted Community Park. <br />• Mayor Jones asked for a moment of personal privilege to announce that her son, Connor, Pfc., <br />just graduated with honors from his advanced training with the U.S. Army at Fort Eisenhower in <br />Georgia, and was on his way home to serve in the Ohio National Guard. <br />Director of Law Gareau: <br />• Director Gareau reported that the Law Department was primarily focused on awaiting the Kava <br />Bar decision from the Court of Common Please, which pertained to the 2506 Appeal. <br />Additionally, there was ongoing work on a public records case in the Ohio Court of Claims, with <br />increasing requests being managed. <br />• Director Gareau also reported that the Law Department has been devoting some time to <br />revisiting lingering issues and implementing "good government" initiatives for consideration by <br />Council to enhance job performance. <br />Director of Finance Copfer: <br />• No Report. <br />Council President Brossard, Committee of the Whole: <br />The Committee of the Whole met on Tuesday, March 12, 2024 at 6:31 p.m. Present were <br />Councilmembers Glassburn, Madden, Scarl and Shymske, Council President Brossard, Mayor Jones, Law <br />Director Gareau, Human Resources Director Kidd, Director of Economic and Community Development <br />Upton, Service Director Kearney, Assistant Finance Director Sperling and Special Assistant to the Mayor <br />Massarolo and guests. <br />• Council President Brossard reported that all of Council discussed moving the Council Meeting <br />start time to an earlier time, in order to accommodate more residents, and after a brief <br />discussion, Council voted in favor of moving the Council start time to 7:30 p.m. with Caucus <br />beginning at 7:15 p.m., effective May 7, 2024. <br />• Council also heard the latest update on the sidewalk program from Director Upton who advised <br />of an August start date, with repairs beginning in 2025 and the Committee of the Whole <br />concluded at 6:50 p.m. <br />Councilman Scarl moved to change the start date of Council Meetings to 7:30 p.m., with Caucus at 7:15 <br />p.m., with an effective date of May 7, 2024. The motion was seconded by Councilman Shymske and <br />passed 6-1. <br />Roll Call: <br />Yes: Scarl, Shymske, Glassburn, Hemann, Gilchrist, Madden <br />No: Limpert <br />Motion carried. Council Meeting start date passed by a vote of 6-1. <br />
