MINUTES OF THE MEETING OF THE COUNCIL <br />OF THE CITY OF NORTH OLMSTED <br />MAY 21, 2024 <br />Present: Council President Brossard, Council Members Gilchrist, Glassburn, Hemann, <br />Limpert, Scarl and Shymske. <br />Also Present: Mayor Dailey Jones, Law Director, Finance Director, Human Resource Director, <br />Economic and Community Development Director, Recreation and Public <br />Engagement Director, Safety Director, Service Director and guests. <br />Absent: Council Member Madden <br />Council President Brossard called the meeting to order at 7:31 p.m. in Council Chambers, 5200 Dover <br />Center Road, North Olmsted, Ohio. <br />Members of the audience were invited to join Council in the recitation of the Pledge of Allegiance <br />The Council Meeting Minutes of May 7, 2024 were approved as written. <br />The following legislation was considered for suspension of the rules. On second reading Resolutions <br />2024-42 and 2024-50, and on first reading, Resolution 2024-54. <br />REPORTS <br />Mayor Jones: <br />• Mayor Jones reported that the City was awarded $150,000.00 from Cuyahoga County and <br />Community Development Block Grant funding which will be used in the renovation of the North <br />Olmsted Senior Center and Community Cabin Kitchens; this renovation will be completed <br />without using any general fund dollars. This funding will be used in coordination with other <br />ABPA funds that were already awarded in conjunction with this project. The renovations are <br />expected to be completed in the fourth quarter of this year. <br />• The Department of Recreation and Public Engagement's 2024 Ice Show was a resounding <br />success. The three-day show brought thousands of visitors to the recreation center and <br />featured over 100 skaters. <br />• The Mayor advised that she took part in two major milestone anniversaries within the City. <br />Ascension Lutheran Church celebrated its 75th Anniversary, and St. Brendan Catholic Church, <br />celebrated its 601h Anniversary in North Olmsted. Mayor Jones said she was pleased to present <br />proclamations at both churches as they have been very involved in the community throughout <br />the years. <br />• Mayor Jones announced the 2024 Saturday Concert Series will begin Saturday, June 8, 2024, <br />with a performance by Disco Inferno from 6:00 — 9:00 p.m., at the North Olmsted Community <br />Park. The next performance will be by the Diamond Project which will perform music from Neil <br />Diamond. The Mayor invited all to Great Northern Mall on July 11, 2024, to hear Bronx <br />Country, adding that this concert will be followed by fireworks. Wrapping up the concert series <br />
