INTERSECTION REALIGNMENT/ RECONFIGURATION <br />kzLorain Road crosses North Olmsted at an angle which means that some <br />, intersections along the corridor occur at angles that impact visibility and <br />safety. In extreme cases, intersection realignment is recommended. <br />TRANSIT STOP ENHANCEMENTS b AMENITIES <br />Enhanced transit waiting areas are helpful in supporting improved transit <br />ridership. This is achieved through the provision of shelter from the elements, <br />seating, lighting, signage, landscaping, and more to support safety and <br />comfort. A more robust emphasis on transit aligns with the Greater Cleveland <br />Regional Transit Authority's focus on Lorain Road as its next priority corridor. <br />FRONTAGE STANDARDS AND CITY IDENTITY LOCATION <br />Surface parking lots along the corridor detract from its appearance and create <br />negative perceptions of the community. Visual buffers that include trees and <br />landscaping along these edges will help calm traffic and improve property <br />values. <br />PRIORITY REDEVELOPMENT OPPORTUNITY <br />Commercial vacancies along the corridor provide opportunities to support <br />�8 the corridors growth through more intensive development. Redevelopment <br />in these areas can be particularly impactful, and transit oriented development <br />should be considered wherever possible. <br />METROPARRS-THEMED TRAILHEAD LOCATION <br />The Lorain Road corridor provides important access to multiple parks within the <br />Cleveland Metroparks system, including Rocky River Reservation and Bradley <br />Woods Reservation. The opportunity exists to connect downtown Cleveland <br />residents to these amenities via Lorain Corridor transit. A potential partnership <br />with the Metroparks to create trailhead-themed transit stops with supportive <br />amenities and improved trail connections can become a regional feature. <br />MEDIAN <br />Landscaped medians can be helpful in calming traffic and in providing an <br />improved perception of a community (which supports higher property values, <br />community marketing and investment). While the nature of the corridor <br />does not currently support medians along the current length, they should <br />be considered wherever feasible.
