Councilman Scarl, Chairman of the Public Safety, Health, and Welfare Committee, <br />do you have a report to submit? <br />Public Safety, Health, and Welfare Committee <br />Councilman Scarl: <br />I do, Mr. President, thank you. <br />Public Safety, Health, and Welfare Committee met on Tuesday, September 24, 2024, at 7:10 <br />p.m. Present were Committee Members Scarl, Hemann, and Madden. Council Members <br />Limpert, Glassburn, Gilchrist and Shymske. Council President Brossard, the Mayor, the <br />Directors of Law, Economic Development, Service, and Special Assistant to the Mayor. <br />• First on the agenda was Ordinance 2024-94. However, due to the Safety Director's <br />absence, it was held in Committee, and that was by a vote of 3 - 0. <br />• Next on the agenda was Resolution 2024-95, which is the agreement with Fairview Park <br />to house their prisoners in North Olmsted jail. Mr. Massarolo explained that due to an <br />agreement with the previous administration the price per night of $65, therefore it was <br />agreed upon in this contract to raise the rate to $165 per night, per prisoner, which <br />includes $12.70 for their meals. It does not include medical expenses or any <br />extraordinary other expenses. After a brief discussion, the legislation was favorably <br />recommended 3 - 0. <br />• Last on the agenda was Resolution 2024-97, which is legislation to purchase a new <br />police canine. Mr. Massarolo explained that our current police dog, Mach, is seven years <br />old and approaching retirement, as the average retirement age for police dogs is around <br />10-01-24 Council Meeting Minutes -Page 6 <br />
