• The Open House for the draft Comprehensive Plan will be held this Thursday, October <br />17th, from 6:00 p.m. until 7:30 p.m. All members of Council and the North Olmsted <br />Community are invited to attend. The Comprehensive Plan sets our City's priorities for <br />the next 10 years, and that meeting will be held in the high school cafeteria. <br />• A groundbreaking ceremony for the 68 Kingston Townhomes to be constructed at Grace <br />and Brook Park roads will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Tuesday, October 29th. I invite all <br />members of Council and the Community to join us as the shovels go in the ground for <br />this exciting new housing development. <br />• Last week, Director of Economic and Community Development Max Upton, State <br />Representative Bride Rose Sweeney, Councilman Chris Glassburn, and myself, along <br />with other invited guests, met with Ohio Department of Development Director Lydia <br />Mihalik at Old Town Hall for a roundtable discussion about economic development in <br />North Olmsted. Great Northern Mall was an important topic on the meeting agenda, <br />especially in light of the news that the Macy's department store at the mall is now up <br />for sale. <br />• Don't forget to register your home for the North Olmsted Arts Commission popular <br />Halloween Home Decorating Contest. The link to register your home is on our Facebook <br />page. The deadline to register is next Tuesday, October 22nd, with judging happening <br />between October 24th through the 28th, and the winners will be announced on <br />Halloween. <br />• Our Senior Center and Community Cabin kitchens are now finally done. I had the <br />privilege of cutting the ribbon unveiling the newly remodeled kitchens last Thursday, <br />October 10'^. <br />• There is going to be a Halloween fun event again here in North Olmsted City Hall on <br />Friday, October 25, 2024, from 12:30 until 1:30 p.m. Please register to bring your little <br />goblins, aged 5 and under, to City Hall for a free trick -or -treating event. <br />• And finally, just a reminder that citywide trick -or -treating will take place on Halloween <br />night, Thursday, October 31st, from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m. If you are participating, you are <br />asked to turn on your porch light. <br />• Speaking of Halloween, Skeletonville will be at the Frostville Museum the next two <br />Friday evenings, October 18" and 25th. The hours are from 5 until 8 p.m. <br />• Great Northern Mall will host its Malloween event on Sunday, October 27, 2024 from 11 <br />a.m. until 1 p.m. I have been tapped to serve as a judge for the dog costume contest <br />they're having as part of the event. Councilwoman Hemann, if you enter, I'll have to <br />recuse myself from judging Trixie in that event. <br />• I want to offer congratulations to North Olmsted residents Frank Simerale and Joann <br />Crock, who were crowned King and Queen at the Oktoberfest-themed Senior Prom, <br />which was held last Wednesday at Springville Ballroom. <br />• And, also at Springville Ballroom, on Thursday, November 211t, there will be a pre - <br />Thanksgiving dance. The pre -holiday festivities will happen from 6 until 9 p.m. There will <br />be finger foods, a cash bar, and, of course, dancing.
