Olmsted has safety concerns for the residents that live there. That's when we're going take it
over. The State of Ohio knows we could do that because they're putting the money in the
Finance Department to be able to do it, that if it doesn't get done, we'll do it. Otherwise, if you
were waiting on the insurance companies and the various property owners and interests, it
could sit there forever. So to Mr. Lambert's concerns, there's no reason to be concerned. I
would never allow anybody to be denied due process in any rights that they would have to
appeal our determination. We're not just going walk in and take a random property
maintenance situation and take it over, and start initiating demolition proceedings or
something. It's not that. So it's a long answer to a short question, but at the committee
meeting, I'll be happy to discuss it in more detail with you. Thank you.
Audience Participation
Council President Brossard:
Thank you. Moving into audience participation, thank you for attending tonight's Council
Meeting. If there's anyone in the audience who would like to address Council, please come to
the podium. State and spell your name and address for the Clerk. If you live in a city other than
North Olmsted, please state the name of that city and proceed with your comments. You will
have up to five minutes.
Jeff Sturgeon:
Good evening. Jeff Sturgeon, 3092 West 231.
A few things... I want to thank Mr. Brossard for, he said at this meeting that you're going be
trying to fulfill Councilman Glassburn's position that you are going to be advertising that now. I
like that it will be advertised, and do hope that when you advertise that you have a deadline on
it and that you guys stick with that. I do think it's good that you are letting everyone know that
it's going to be in the newspaper and on the City website this far out. Also I did speak with Bea
earlier today, and I don't know if anyone really knows that we need to, by January V, replace
our Charter Review Commissioners, everybody on that by January 1s'. One of the amendments
that the voters passed in 2020, so I'm hoping that, there's about a month and a half to fill all
those positions. I hope that that does happen because for the first time that was used since
that amendment was voted by the people in 2020. Anybody could reach out to ODOT
regarding the property at Clague and Brookpark7 Now that the leaves are all falling and stuff,
their property, we have to remind them every so often, looks like crap. Well, it looks like crap.
Especially on the Brookpark Road side, there's dead tree stuff laying over the fence. The fence
is all bent in a couple areas. Wonder if we could get ODOT to maybe clean up their property a
little bit, and maybe when you are talking to them, let them know that we have a sidewalk
program, maybe if they'd like to sign up for a sidewalk because they are the only ones on that
side of the road that don't have a sidewalk and maybe they would be happy to be a part of the
sidewalk program. And also, at the Committee meeting, I understand that you mentioned that
we're gonna need an engineer to go over all ODOT where we're gonna be getting stuff and I
think it was Lorain Road was gonna cost us an additional $75,000 from taxpayers because
11-19-24 Council Meeting Minutes - Page 10
