that the amount of the initial repairs that were being made, a total of $64,000, were
below the amount that would have required public bidding due to, "a real and present
emergency in order to provide for the public health, safety, and welfare". The additional
work that was necessary due to more breaks being found, led to the extra repair charge
of $14,799.81, and resulted in the delay on the Ordinance coming before Council. Mr.
Madden made a motion to favorably recommend the Ordinance and it was seconded by
Councilwoman Hemann. Councilman Shymske, do you have a report or comments before we move into
audience participation?
Councilman Shymske:
I have no report but a moment of personal privilege.
Council President Brossard:
Of course.
Councilman Shymske:
I'd like to offer my condolences on the loss of your father to Council President Brossard, and to
Councilman Glassburn, I wish you all the best in Columbus. I'm sure you'll do us proud, and that
concludes my report.
Council President Brossard:
Thank you. I also want to thank everybody who have offered condolences. So thank you to everyone, I certainly appreciate that.
Communications
Council President Brossard:
With that said, are there any letters or communications to come before Council at this time?
Council Clerk:
No, Mr. President.
12-17-24 Council Meeting Minutes - Page 11
