Communications
Council President Brossard:
Are there any letters or communications to come before Council at this time?
Council Clerk:
No, Mr. President.
Council President Brossard:
All right, thank you. We'll now move into audience participation. Thank you for attending
tonight's Council meeting. Public comment offers the opportunity for members of the public to
share information and bring issues and concerns to the attention of City Council members. If
there is anyone in the audience who would like to address Council, please come to the podium.
State and spell your name and address for the clerk. If you live in a city other than North
Olmsted, please state the name of that city and proceed with your comments. You will have up
to five minutes.
Jeff Sturgeon:
[Inaudible. Mr. Sturgeon asked about the Governor of Ohio allowing cities to charge for police
department videos and body camera footage.]
Mayor Jones:
Mr. President?
Council President Brossard:
Yes, Mayor.
Mayor Jones:
Mr. Sturgeon, at this time, in discussion with my Safety Director, there are no plans for the City
of North Olmsted to charge for that information.
Jeff Sturgeon:
[inaudible. Mr. Sturgeon asked if it would be a good way for the City to bring in revenue.]
Mayor Jones:
Yes, however, I also believe that public records are just that, they're public records, and at this
time, the Safety Director and I had consulted about that. We would approach City Council with
legislation in order to allow for that in the future. But at this time, there are no immediate
plans to do so.
Jeff Sturgeon:
[inaudible. Mr. Sturgeon asked if it costs the City anything to produce the camera footage.]
O1-21-25 Council Meeting Minutes - Page 11
