Recreation Public Parks and Buildings Committee
Councilman Scarl:
I do, Mr. President. Thank you. The Recreation, Public Parks, and Buildings Committee met on
Tuesday, January 14, 2025, to discuss Resolution 2025-3, a Resolution authorizing the Mayor to
enter into a new and revised agreement with the North Olmsted City School District to establish
mutual rights and responsibilities for the use of public facilities and assets. The meeting was
called to order at 7:08 p.m. Present were Committee Members Hemann and Scarl,
Councilmembers Gilchrist, Madden, Marrie, Shymske, Council President Broussard, the Mayor,
Law Director, Finance Director, Economic Director, Service Director, Recreation Director, Special
Assistant to the Mayor, Mr. Filarski, the City Engineer, and guests.
The Mayor introduced the Resolution's purpose, which is to share various facilities
between the City of North Olmsted and North Olmsted City Schools. The facilities to be
shared are inclusive of all City of North Olmsted facilities, such as the Recreation Center,
the parks, and Springvale. The facilities to be shared under the control of the North
Olmsted City School District are also in the realm of sports -based facilities, such as
basketball, gymnasiums, tennis courts, track and field, as well as baseball and other
fields. The use of shared facilities is not new and has been done in the past, in fact, for
many years. However, this new agreement will be much more effective to the all-
around experience of all our residents and student population within the city. The new
agreement provides a detailed approach and more complete list of the facilities to be
shared in light of the newly built and or renovated sports and recreation facilities that
our residents now enjoy. Ms. Hamann made a motion to recommend to all of Council
2025-3, seconded by Mr. Scarl. The motion passed 2-0. The meeting adjourned at 7:15
p.m., and that concludes my report, Mr. President.
Council President Brossard:
Thank you.
