lot. All right? Thank you. Oh, have a Merry Christmas. Happy New Year. Pray for peace. That's
what I want, pray for peace. Thank you.
Yvette Bovard:
Yvette Bovard, B-O-V-A-R-D, 25976 Butternut Ridge Road. Don't really have anything new to
add about the Butternut Ridge development. Everyone has said it very eloquently. I am naive
enough to think that City Council votes the way the people of its city would like. Perhaps there
is a whole group of people that want this development. I don't know who they are. Perhaps
they have contacted you. No one that I spoke to in the City of North Olmsted is pushing to
rezone one individual homeowner's house, and where is that homeowner? I see a development
company here, that is not a citizen of North Olmsted. Of course they want the development.
They don't care about North Olmsted. They care about making money, which is their job, and
nothing wrong with that. I'm here just to say that I don't want it to be at the expense of where I
live, and where I've lived for 20 years and why I moved here. I'm not anti-development. I'm
anti-development in a historical district, and I'm sure you've heard enough from everyone, and I
will end it there. Thank you.
Todd Evangelista:
Hello. Todd Evangelista, E-V-A-N-G-E-L-I-S-T-A. And I live at 26031 Butternut Ridge Road, and
that house was built in 1835. So anyone? But that was the Martindales lived there for 50 years,
60 years, and Mr. Martindale would have liked to be here tonight, but he had some
complications and is in the hospital. One of the things that I haven't really heard a lot about is
the preservation of nature. We used to have a lot of trees on Butternut and that area that
they're talking about, just knocking down all the trees, the trees provide a windbreak. So when
that wind comes through, it drops all its snow in that area and doesn't hit us. It's right next to
the highway, so it provides a sound break. They really suck up the water. If you get rid of all
those trees, then that water got to go somewhere. It provides a habitat for the animals, and,
you know, talking about the traffic, like, oh, 30 cars peak times isn't going to hurt that much.
But I think we've all seen dead animals along Butternut because of all the traffic there.
Anyways, I say vote no.
Ed Wiles:
Hello, my name is Ed Wiles. I'm at 25746 Butternut Ridge Road. I just want to thank everybody
on Council for hearing us and also the Mayor and the Directors and our neighbors on Butternut.
I am so proud of everybody. Once we found out about the possibility of the area being
redeveloped and zoned, the community really came together. And that's been characteristic of
that neighborhood as long as I've been there. That's a long time. I would just ask Council to
consider, when they're considering rezoning a single-family area of the city, the residents
should be made aware of that. And I don't know what the policy is, but I feel like it was a fluke
that we found out about the initial proposal. And fortunately, a couple of us have been involved
in these kinds of efforts previously and were pretty vocal to our neighbors and got a lot of
support. But I do think there should be, I don't know if it's a policy or procedure, where
residents of a particular neighborhood that's being considered for rezoning be notified.
