Ms. Maureen Barna: My name is Maureen Barna. I live at 4336 Lansing Drive. I first want to thank the Mayor and everybody who made the North Olmsted Park look really nice. The city needed a huge facelift, and that was the beginning, and now the streets are going to look better. I know North Olmsted is a pretty old town, and along Lorain Road, it looks pretty old, and I'm hoping that, with the thought of the Browns coming into Brook Park, that the city is going to be able to spruce up some of the bigger streets, making it more inviting. When I was a kid, I grew up here, and I remember City Hall had Christmas decorations at Christmastime, along the street. I know in other towns, they have the Veterans Memorial flags up and down their streets, and I think that would be an awesome thing to do around the park. I think there's a lot of little things that I've seen around other cities, like Westlake on Hilliard, where all their trees are in the median. They have companies and families donating the baskets of flowers and planters around the trees, which really, really looks pretty, too. Those are just a couple of my ideas. I just wanted to share that with you. One thing I am concerned, too, is about walking the city's streets and sidewalks. I am a walker too, and yes, there are some things that I'm concerned about. A big one is up here on Butternut, where the library has that crosswalk going over to the school. Those flashing caution lights are very hard to see because they're way high up, but they're only on for about five seconds, and you only can get halfway across the street before they turn off. Plus, when you push that button, you have no idea if that light is flashing or not. I think that there's probably some things that can be done, not sure? Then I also observed that on the corner of Butternut and Dover, there are no "No Turn During School Hours" signs, but on Porter and Mill, there is one. I think that's kind of odd. Just a few observations, thank you. Mayor Jones: Mr. President. Council President Brossard: Mayor. Mayor Jones: Thank you. We will make sure that our Safety Director and our Service Director look at the flashing lights, and the no turns on red during school hours. We will take care of that and report back to you, Ms. Barna, and to City Council. Thank you for your ideas to continue to spruce up our city. lust so that you and Council members are aware, we are actively working with the VFW on the Veterans Memorial flags. Hopefully, within the next few years, we will be seeing those here in North Olmsted as well. Thank you, Mr. President. Council President Brossard: Thank you, Mayor.
