CITY OF NORTH OLMSTED <br />RESOLUTION NO. 2008 -165 <br />BY: Mayor O'Grady and Council Members Dailey Jones and Barker <br />A RESOL UTION A UTHORIZING THE DIRECTOR OF <br />PUBLIC SERVICE TO SOLICIT STATEMENTS OF <br />QUALIFICATIONS ("SOQs") FROM PROFESSIONAL <br />ENGINEERING FIRMS TO SERVE AS THE CITY'S <br />DIVISION OF ENGINEERING; FURTHER AUTHORIZING <br />THE MAYOR, SUBJECT TO APPROVAL OF THE BOARD <br />OF CONTROL, TO ENTER INTO A PERSONAL SERVICES <br />CONTRACT WITH THE FIRM SELECTED; AND <br />DECLARING AN EMERGENCY. <br />WHEREAS, this Council has from time to time authorized the Director of Public <br />Service to request proposals for a professional engineering firm to serve as the City's <br />Division of Engineering and provide professional engineering services to the Director of <br />Public Service; and <br />WHEREAS, the current contract with the professional engineering firm selected <br />in the last such RFP process is scheduled to terminate on February 27, 2009; and <br />WHEREAS, this Council, on October 28, 2008, adopted Ordinance No. 2008-139 <br />which authorized the Director of Public Service to issue requests for proposals ("RFPs") <br />for professional engineering services to be rendered to the City on and after February 27, <br />2009; and <br />WHEREAS, the Administration, upon further review of the matter, believes that <br />it would be more effective and efficient to engage professional engineering firms through <br />a Request for Qualifications ("RFQ") rather than an RFP process; and <br />WHEREAS, in accordance with the new request from the Administration, it is the <br />desire of this Council to so authorize the Director of Public Service to solicit statements <br />of qualification ("SOQs") from professional engineering firms that are qualified to serve <br />as the City's Division of Engineering and to provide professional engineering services to <br />the Director of Public Service, and to further to authorize the Mayor to enter into a <br />personal services contract with the firm selected in the RFQ process and approved by the <br />Board of Control; <br />NO W, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOL VED B Y THE CO UNCIL OF THE CITY <br />OF NORTH OLMSTED, COUNTY OF CUYAHOGA, AND STATE OF OHIO:
