<br />:* <br />CITY OF NORTH OLMSTED <br />ORDINANCE NO. 2003 - 96 <br />BY: Mayor Musial. <br />AN ORDINANCE AMENDING SECTION 713. 03 (LICENSE <br />REQUIRED; FEE) OF CHAPTER 713 OF THE BIISINESS <br />REGULATION CODE ENTITLED "STRIICTURES FOR <br />NONTRANSIENTS" IN ORDER TO INCREASE THE LICENSE <br />FEE FOR APARTMENT INSPECTIONS BY THE BUILDING <br />DEPARTMENT, AND DECLARING AN EMERGENCY. <br />WHEREAS, the City requires the owners of apartment buildings to obtain an <br />annual license, and submit to inspections by the City Building or Fire Department, in <br />order to protect and promote the health, safety and welfare of City residents who live in <br />apartments; and <br />WHEREAS, the City has not reviewed or adjusted the fees it charges in <br />connection with the issuance of said licenses and the conduct of such inspection since <br />1969; and <br />WHEREAS, the Building Commissioner has recently reviewed the fees charged <br />by the City of North Olmsted for the issuance of apartment licenses and has found them <br />to be inadequate to cover the City's administrative costs associate with processing license <br />applications and conducting inspectionsi and <br />WHEREAS, it is accordingly the desire of this Council, based upon the specific <br />recommendation of the Building Commissioner, to increase the fees currently charged for <br />the issuance of apartment licenses so as to cover the City's administrative costs <br />associated with processing license applications and conducting inspections; <br />NOW THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE <br />CITY OF NORTH OLM5TED, CUYAHOGA COUNTY, AND STATE OF OHIO: <br />SECTION 1: That Section 713.03 (License Required; Fee) of Chapter 713 of the <br />Business Regulation Code, entitled "Structures for Nontransients," which presently reads <br />as follows: <br />"713.03 LICENSE REQUIRED; FEE <br />No person shall let, rent or lease for occupancy, either as owner, lessor, agent or <br />attorney, an apartment unit or units within the City without first having obtained a license <br />from the City Building Department. The license shall be renewable on January 1 of <br />every year thereafter during the period of occupancy. <br />
