CITY OF NORTH OLMSTED <br />ORDINANCE NO. 68 - 3 <br />BY ? ? f <br />AN ORDINANCE AMENDING NORTH OLMSTED CO£'3IFIED <br />ORDINANCE, TITLE THREE, CHAPTER 1311, SECTION <br />1311. 05 , ENTITLED "AMENDMENTS TO REGIONAL <br />BUILDING CODE" BY ADDING PAR.AGRAPHS 21, 22 and <br />23 TO SECTION 1689.03 ENTITLED "BASIC PRINCIPLES <br />AND PERFORMANCE STANDARDS FOR PLTJMBING" OF <br />THE REGIONAL BUILDING CODE, AND DECLARING AN <br />EMERGENCY <br />WHEREAS, the Board of Building Code Appeals has recommended <br />that certain changes be enacted in the Regional Building Code; and <br />WHEREAS, Council is of the opinion that it is to the best interests <br />of the City of North Olmsted that the suggested changes by the Board of Building <br />Code Appeals be enacted into legislation. <br />NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAiNED by the Council of the City <br />of North Olmsted, State of Ohio: <br />Section 1: That Codified Ordinance Section 1311.05 entitled <br />"Amendments to Regional Building Code" be amended by addition of paragraphs <br />21, 22 and 23 to Section 1689.03 entitled "Basic Principles and Performance <br />Standards for Plumbing" or the Regional Building Code, and presently reading <br />as follows: <br />"1689.03 Basic Principles and Performance <br />Standards for Plumbinq <br />In the interpretation of the requirements of <br />Chapter 93 of the RDH Code and of this <br />Chapter 89, or in the design, installation <br />or use of plumbing fixtures and equipment <br />not specifically covered by this Code, the <br />following basic principles and performance <br />standards sha ll govern: <br />i. All premises intended for human habitation, <br />occupancy, or use shall be provided with a supply <br />of potable water, neither connected with unsafe <br />water supplies nor subject to the hazards of back- <br />flow, back-siphonage or cross connections. <br />ii. Plumbing shall be designed and adjusted to <br />use the minimum quantity of water consistent with <br />proper performance and cleaning. <br />iii. Devices for heating and storing water shall <br />be so designed and installed as to prevent dangers <br />from explosion or collapse through over heating or <br />siphoning.
