<br />«? . <br />CITY OF NORTH OLMSTED <br />ORDINANCE NO. 69-,r/ <br />BY • ND ? <br />AN ORDINANCE AMENDING THE TRAFFIC CODE OF THE <br />CITY OF NORTH OLMSTED, OHIO, SECTION 337.16 <br />( CODIFIED ORDIIVANCE ), ENTITLED " NZJMBER OF LIGHTS <br />PERMITTED ; RED AND FLASHING LIGHTS ", TO CONFORM <br />TO CHANGES ENACTED BY THE OHIO GENER.AL ASSEMBLY, <br />AN'D REPEALING ORDIIVANCE NO. 65-310, SECTION 337.16 <br />( CODIFIED ORDINANCE ), AND DECLARING AN EMERGENCY. <br />WHEREAS, Council has determined that it;is in the best interest <br />of the City of North Olmsted that the North Olmsted Traffic Code be reviewed <br />to eliminate any conflict with provisions of the State Statutes, as enacted by <br />the Ohio General Assembly. <br />NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDIAN'ED by the Council of the City <br />of North Olmsted, State of Ohio : <br />Section 1. That Section 337.16, Chapter 337 ( Codified Ordinance ) <br />of the North Olmsted Traffic Code reading as follows: <br />337.16 NUMBER OF LIGHTS PERMITTED; RED A1VD <br />FLASHING LIGHTS. <br />( a) Whenever a motor vehicle equipped with headlights ia also <br />equipped withanyauxiliary lights, or spotlights, or any <br />liqht on the front thereof projecting a beam of an intensity <br />greater than tree hundred candle power, not more than a <br />total of five of any such lights on the front of a vehicle <br />shall be lighted at any one time when such vehicle is <br />upon a street ar highway. <br />( b) Any lighted light or illuminating device upon a motor vehicle, <br />other than headlights, spotlights, si.+gnal lights, or auxiliary <br />driving liqhts, which projects a beam of light of an intensity <br />greater than three hundred candle power shall be so .directed <br />that no part of the beam will strike the level of the rQadway <br />on which the vehicle stands at a distance of more than <br />seventy-five feet from the vehicle. <br />( c) No person shall drive or move any vehicle or equipment upon <br />any street or highway with any lf,ght or device thereon dis- <br />playing a red light mounted on the front thereof. This sub- <br />section does not apply to emergency vehicles, school buses, <br />traffic line stripers, snow plows, rural mail delivery vehicles , <br />State Highway survey vehicles, funeral escort vehicles and <br />similar equipment operated by the Ohio Department of High- <br />ways or local authorities. <br />( d) Flashing lights are prohibited on motor vehicles, except as <br />a means indicating a r;ght or left turn , or in the presence of <br />a vehicular traffic hazard requiring unusual care in approaching, <br />or overtaking or passing. This prohibition does not apply to <br />vehicles operating under special permits pursuant to Sections <br />339.01 and 339.011, disabled vehicles or machinery permitted <br />by Section 337.10 to have a flashing red light.
