AN ORDINANCE AMENDING THE TRAFFIC CODE OF THE CITY OF NORTH OLMSTED, OHIO, SECTION 337.16 ( CODIFIED ORDIIVANCE ), ENTITLED " NZJMBER OF LIGHTS PERMITTED ; RED AND FLASHING LIGHTS ", TO CONFORM TO CHANGES ENACTED BY THE OHIO GENER.AL ASSEMBLY, AN'D REPEALING ORDIIVANCE NO. 65-310, SECTION 337.16 ( CODIFIED ORDINANCE ), AND DECLARING AN EMERGENCY. WHEREAS, Council has determined that it;is in the best interest of the City of North Olmsted that the North Olmsted Traffic Code be reviewed to eliminate any conflict with provisions of the State Statutes, as enacted by the Ohio General Assembly. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDIAN'ED by the Council of the City of North Olmsted, State of Ohio : Section 1. That Section 337.16, Chapter 337 ( Codified Ordinance ) of the North Olmsted Traffic Code reading as follows: 337.16 NUMBER OF LIGHTS PERMITTED; RED A1VD FLASHING LIGHTS. ( a) Whenever a motor vehicle equipped with headlights ia also equipped withanyauxiliary lights, or spotlights, or any liqht on the front thereof projecting a beam of an intensity greater than tree hundred candle power, not more than a total of five of any such lights on the front of a vehicle shall be lighted at any one time when such vehicle is upon a street ar highway. ( b) Any lighted light or illuminating device upon a motor vehicle, other than headlights, spotlights, si.+gnal lights, or auxiliary driving liqhts, which projects a beam of light of an intensity greater than three hundred candle power shall be so .directed that no part of the beam will strike the level of the rQadway on which the vehicle stands at a distance of more than seventy-five feet from the vehicle. ( c) No person shall drive or move any vehicle or equipment upon any street or highway with any lf,ght or device thereon dis- playing a red light mounted on the front thereof. This sub- section does not apply to emergency vehicles, school buses, traffic line stripers, snow plows, rural mail delivery vehicles , State Highway survey vehicles, funeral escort vehicles and similar equipment operated by the Ohio Department of High- ways or local authorities. ( d) Flashing lights are prohibited on motor vehicles, except as a means indicating a r;ght or left turn , or in the presence of a vehicular traffic hazard requiring unusual care in approaching, or overtaking or passing. This prohibition does not apply to vehicles operating under special permits pursuant to Sections 339.01 and 339.011, disabled vehicles or machinery permitted by Section 337.10 to have a flashing red light.
