Wilamosky AN ORDINANCE AMENDING THE CODIFIED ORDINANCES OF THE CITY OF NORTH OLMSTED BY CREATING A NEW CHAPTER 1703 ENTITLED "EARLY WARNING FIRE DETECTION SYSTEMS" OF THE FIRE PREVENTION CODE, AS AMENDED. WHEREAS, the Council of the City of North Olmsted deems it in the best interest of the residents of the City to protect occupants in future multiple dwellings from the perils of fire, and WHEREAS, this Council believes that this can be best accomplished by requiring early warning fire detection systems in multiple dwelling structures and office buildings; NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF NORTH OLMSTED, COUNTY OF CUYAHOGA AND STATE OF OHIO: SECTION l: That the Codified Ordinances of the City of North Olmsted be and are hereby amended by creating a new Chapter 1703 entitled "Early Warning Fire Detection Systems:-' which shall read as follows: CHAPTER 1703 EARLY WARNING FIRE DETECTION SYSTEMS 1703.01 Residential Multiple Dwellings All buildings containing more than two (2) residential dwelling units (as defined in the Zoning Ordinances of the City of North Olmsted in Chapter 1125) and exceed two (2) stories and/or a height of twenty-five (25) feet constructed after the effective date of this ordinance shall have contained within each dwelling unit an approved early warning fire detection system. Said system shall consist of an Underwriters Laboratories Factory Mutual or Underwriters Laboratories of Canada approved detector installed and maintained adjacent to the outside of sleeping quarters within the multiple dwelling units. Alarm signaling devices shall be clearly audible in all bedrooms within the apartment or dwelling unit when all intervening doors are closed. In the application of the story limitation the following Zoning Ordinances of the City of North Olmsted shall apply: Chapter 1125, Section 1125.67 Chapter 1125, Section 1125.68 Chapter 1155, Section 1155.03 (A) 1703.02 Office Buildings All office buildings in excess of fifty (50) feet in height con- structed after the effective date of this ordinance shall have installed and maintained on each level of the building used for offices an Underwriters Laboratories Factory Mutual or Underwriters Laboratories of Canada approved early warning fire detection system.
