Wilamosky <br /> <br />AN ORDINANCE AMENDING THE CODIFIED <br />ORDINANCES OF THE CITY OF NORTH OLMSTED <br />BY CREATING A NEW CHAPTER 1703 ENTITLED <br />"EARLY WARNING FIRE DETECTION SYSTEMS" <br />OF THE FIRE PREVENTION CODE, AS AMENDED. <br />WHEREAS, the Council of the City of North Olmsted deems it in <br />the best interest of the residents of the City to protect occupants <br />in future multiple dwellings from the perils of fire, and <br />WHEREAS, this Council believes that this can be best accomplished <br />by requiring early warning fire detection systems in multiple <br />dwelling structures and office buildings; <br />NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF <br />NORTH OLMSTED, COUNTY OF CUYAHOGA AND STATE OF OHIO: <br />SECTION l: That the Codified Ordinances of the City of North <br />Olmsted be and are hereby amended by creating a new Chapter 1703 <br />entitled "Early Warning Fire Detection Systems:-' which shall read <br />as follows: <br />CHAPTER 1703 <br />EARLY WARNING FIRE DETECTION SYSTEMS <br />1703.01 Residential Multiple Dwellings <br />All buildings containing more than two (2) residential dwelling <br />units (as defined in the Zoning Ordinances of the City of North <br />Olmsted in Chapter 1125) and exceed two (2) stories and/or a <br />height of twenty-five (25) feet constructed after the effective <br />date of this ordinance shall have contained within each dwelling <br />unit an approved early warning fire detection system. Said system <br />shall consist of an Underwriters Laboratories Factory Mutual or <br />Underwriters Laboratories of Canada approved detector installed and <br />maintained adjacent to the outside of sleeping quarters within the <br />multiple dwelling units. Alarm signaling devices shall be clearly <br />audible in all bedrooms within the apartment or dwelling unit when <br />all intervening doors are closed. <br />In the application of the story limitation the following Zoning <br />Ordinances of the City of North Olmsted shall apply: <br />Chapter 1125, Section 1125.67 <br />Chapter 1125, Section 1125.68 <br />Chapter 1155, Section 1155.03 (A) <br />1703.02 Office Buildings <br />All office buildings in excess of fifty (50) feet in height con- <br />structed after the effective date of this ordinance shall have <br />installed and maintained on each level of the building used for <br />offices an Underwriters Laboratories Factory Mutual or Underwriters <br />Laboratories of Canada approved early warning fire detection system. <br /> <br />
