<br />Also present were Lloyd E. Barnes, Service Director; Thomas J. Raleigh,
<br />Safety Director; C. J. Oviatt, Solicitor; Alex Kanareff, Engineer; and
<br />E. M. Christman, Clerk.
<br />Absent: Bruce ~~IacDona.ld, and P.:1ice Dobbins Rhine, Treasurer.
<br />The minutes of the regular meeting of Council July 21st, and the minutes
<br />of the adjourned meeting of Julzr 30th, were approved as read.
<br />Th.e I~~Tayor reported he had received a. communication from the Cleveland
<br />Safety Council relative to r~ha.rr.icipal membership. The services rendered
<br />by the Cleveland Safet°, Council were discussed at the ~°~ayor's Associa-
<br />tion and the matter was ^eferred to the Safety Committee for consideration.
<br />The Mayor read a communication. from the I~iorth Olmsted Community Council
<br />requesting Cite Officials to participate in the Annual Home Coming Parade
<br />on Friday, August 28th, A11 ambers of the Officialr'amily are to sign
<br />the letter indicating whether or not they will be able to attend in
<br />order that a reply can ~~e :Wade.
<br />The Service Director rey~~orted the Board of Control awarded the bid
<br />for the sale of the street improvement bonds in the amount of ~b9,d50.00
<br />to gran-Sutherland Comeany. Also, the Board of uControl awarded the bid
<br />for the one-ton truck to the 'lilliams a'Iotor Company.
<br />The Safety Director reported building permits issued for the ronth of
<br />July at a total valuation of ~~671,810.00.
<br />The safety Director reported Chief Donaldson advised only ei~^ht hydrants
<br />required further repair or re?~lacement.
<br />The Safety Director also reported a meeting was held pursuant to the
<br />request from the Police Department to reduce working hours from 1r8 to
<br />~0 hours; activities of the Fire Department, totaling 33 calls ,~.or the
<br />month of July; The Rocky River r~~unicipal Court for the month of June
<br />handled 96 traffic cases fi'or the Citz~ cr' idorth Olmsted; activities of
<br />the Police Department for the month of July as follows: 20 criminal,
<br />22 traffic accidents, 7 hos~~ita1 runs, 7 domestic, 167 general calls,
<br />31 service calls, or a, total of 25~.; and the Dog ?~darden reported 55 cases during
<br />July.
<br />~~Irr. Donald Ford, Chairman of the North Olmsted Charter Commission
<br />presented the draft of the charter for the City of Forth Olmsted as it
<br />will be presented to the electors on November 3rd, 1959 for adoc~tion.
<br />The clay°or requested Council to introduce a resolution of commendation
<br />to the Charter Commission fore the many hours givea: of their tame and
<br />effarts in '~hepreparation of the C1:_arter, enabling the City to nat'c::
<br />a ;.orti ?~:orkable goverr~.ent. It was moved by i~Ir. Wilson, sE;concecA ,~ J.
<br />;x~s. Hinkel, that the worth Olmsted Charter Commission be commended
<br />for their efforts in the preparation o? the Charter, which has just
<br />been presented to the City. '"Yeast' Hinkel, Hixson, Kramer, Lynch,
<br />OtP~eill, Wilson.
<br />Resolution No. 2892 was introduced by ~~ir. Wilson. A resolution
<br />commending the members of the D?orth Olmsted Charter Commission for
<br />their outstanding and exemplary work in the preparation of the
<br />Charter submitted to Council, for placement on the ballot at the
<br />General Election to be held Tovember 3rd, 1959, the date desiLnated
<br />by the Commission to have said question submitted to the electors of
<br />this City. It was moved by 'i~Ir. iJUi_lson, seconded by 1'~rs. Minkel, the
<br />resolution be adopted. as read. "Yeas" Hinkel, Hixson, Krammer, Lynch,
