<br />Absent: President of Council Francis .3. 0'Neill and Councilman Miller.

<br />Finance Director William Gerlach, Law Director J. Bruce Kitche,
<br />Acting Gity Engineer Micl-iael Karhan, C1erk of Council Florence Ho1m.
<br />Minutes of meeting of May 20th caere approved as written,
<br />Mayor Christman said that it was with regret that he had accepted the resig-
<br />nation of Arthur Grumney as Givil Defense Director, as af June 30th. The
<br />Mayor is recommending kay Jackson, who has been very active in Civil Defense,
<br />to take Mr. Grumney's place Also, Walter Spalding, .1r- ha5 re5igned as Prose-
<br />eutor and the Law Director has appointed William McCrone as Prosecutor, The
<br />Mayor said Saturday, June 7th, is All Scoucs Day, starting at the City Hall
<br />at 9:00 a,m. with a mock Council meeting.
<br />President Pro Tem Eian gave recognition to a group of Boy and Girl Scouts at-
<br />tending Council meeting,
<br />Service Director Watts said that the permanent thermoplastic striping will be
<br />applied to Lorain Road next Monday,
<br />Mrs. Hodgins, Chairman of Pub1ic Service & Utilities and Liquor Contrnl Com-
<br />mittees, read a letter whiGh she had received from M. Sala, 3520 Dawn, re-
<br />garding condition of drainage ditcr running through this arza. The condition
<br />attracts rats and has an obnoxious odor. The letter was a1so signed by four
<br />other property owners in vicinity. T1r- Eian referred letter to Municipal
<br />Development Committee.
<br />Mro Caster, Chairman of Appoint?i.ents, Ind4lstrial Development and Municipal
<br />Development Committees, reported on field trip of P4ay 24th with residents
<br />of Plumwood, Curtis, Bentley, Danberry area, which had been set up as a re-
<br />sult of requests made at last Council meeting because of flnoding conditions
<br />during and following a severe storm. Most of Gouncil, Administration and
<br />about 80 area people looked over the situation. Quite a bit of silting was
<br />found which would restrict flow in Brendan Lane area. Several walked the
<br />ditch line to Fairview line and observed restrictions in ditches, On May
<br />28th there was a follow-up meeting at the Communlty Gabin, The Engineer
<br />reported on ciitch elevations, etc. There wi11 be some relief tu the storm
<br />water situation by deepening ditches to Fairview line. Service Department
<br />will get in rhere and start cleaning ditches out, but this is no guarantee
<br />that conditions will not otcur againP Other solutians to prnblem are quite
<br />expensive, There were also about four prnperty owners on Plumwood with
<br />drainage problems from their homes. The Mayor has gotten together with
<br />developer in area, and if it is determined that there are errors from house
<br />to street, the builder will have to correcx conditionT There were also
<br />residents from Sweetbriar, Columbia, Maria, Stoneybrook with similar problems.
<br />They, too, have met with Mayor and engineer. Mayor is investigating possi-
<br />bility of culverting, at owner's expense, and City furnishing labor. Dedi-
<br />cation of certain streets was also discussed, but certain problems remain
<br />which have to be cleared up before dedication. The vacant lots in Plumwood
